Christians are sinners, but not of the devil

I disagree that Paul was talking about his life after conversion. This same Paul wrote "Shall we sin that grace may abound? Certainly not!" No one here claimed to be above Paul. Humility is an honest assessment of yourself. If you are saved by Jesus and walk in the light, it's more humble to...

He blessed the bread, and broke it . . .

I agree. I suffer when I'm not in His will too. I think if we do even basic things to God's glory, this pleases God. Better to do something small in obedience than something big that's in our flesh.

He blessed the bread, and broke it . . .

Yes, so much trouble I've had for trying to follow my dreams in this world without seeking God.

Christians are sinners, but not of the devil

When did John the Baptist consider himself a sinner? Paul did say "sinners of which I am chief." But the New Testament alone uses the word saint or saints to refer to believers 67 times. The Bible calls us saints over and over again. Paul did not remain a Christian murdering zealot his whole life.

Emotion support alligator spotted at park...

Lol! My late grandfather has a saying he passed down. "If it was a snake, it wouldve bit ya." Usually when you lost something but found it close. He wouldve laughed at the thought of someone keeping an actual snake.

New Testament Church vs Modern Church

My husband I love our church. But we see the good and the bad. The church has a business side, a huge building to pay for, and prioritizes that and pulpit preaching. Tithes and offering go to that. But the New Testament Church had some differences. -More fellowship and doing life together...

He blessed the bread, and broke it . . .

We generally want to be somebody in this world. But Christ made Himself a humble servant for our sake. That's why we rejoice in weakness and suffering. That's what makes us like Him.

    How was your day?

I know what you mean. Many Church of God's have compromised and gone too far in the other direction. We are not too attached to the denomination as a whole but we love our pastor and his wife and feel they hold up a good standard. Our pastor doesn't enforce dress codes or entertainment codes...

    Late night thread 2

Thanks for your prayers. I'm almost fully recovered from yesterdays stuff. It's rather hot today.

Christians are sinners, but not of the devil

I agree wholeheartedly with this. We are saints, not sinners.

    takeing a break from CYB

I'll miss your friendly laid back posts but I understand. God leads me away from forums and social media too at times.

    How was your day?

Thank you so much, Lamb!! I can tell we have a lot in common. I think I read somewhere you used to be a member of a Church of God? That's the kind of church hubby and I attend.

    How was your day?

Currently I am mid-sized. But I love plus size fashion bloggers. A $300 wardrobe sounds great. I get all my clothes from thrift stores and consignment. I'm not a minimalist but I try to stay with a strict budget even for thrifting.

    How was your day?

I serve in at least four different roles at my church. It might appear petty to ask to be off the welcome team but I need to start cutting back somehow. There are three services a week, I sing in two of them, and have three praise team practices a week. Tack on the welcome team, vp of women's...

    How was your day?

It's been a hectic day but I'm a bit sad. All the church activity I did was tiring but I felt closest to God when I prayed to Him this morning by myself. I love our church and the two choir practices were fine. But they snagged me to set up refreshments during the altar call so I didnt get to...

    Total Obscurity

Greats of history do good on a large scale and we remember their names. It's so like me to run ahead of God and want to do something big. What if the Lord has called me to a quiet life? What if I died to my dreams to come alive to Christ in total obscurity? What if my calling is to wipe...

    How was your day?

It was hard to be honest but I think God has called me to pursue Him where I am as I am. I wanted a big task but am I being faithful in what He's called me to thus far? Am I looking well to the ways of my household? Are there ways to grow even in total obscurity? Of course there is.

"Depart from me i never knew you". #1

Self effort is attacked on this forum a lot. It's as if anything we do could threaten our "resting in the finished work of the cross" and thereby threaten our salvation. Does this make sense? Is there even a way to avoid all self-effort besides comitting to doing nothing every day? And if its...
