    Lifesaver

I also think the point of the story is actually the heart of the son that stayed. Yes, we "prodigals" needed to know that our Father still loved us, but ... ... the story was for those that "thanked God they were not like those Tax Collectors and Prodigal Sons".

About the Unforgivable Sin, Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

Cut to the answer from the article ... The Secret Is In The Greek… For those who have the “by-the-text” interpretation mention above, one piece of information that helped me incredibly is understanding the Greek grammar tenses. You can see from the quotes of Matthew, Mark, and Luke above that...

Do you think there is anything positive about the Democratic Party?

The "Nuremberg Code" concerns "human experimentation" (and the ethics thereof). It is a bit of a reach to apply that to requirements for vaccinations to attend Schools or Daycare. Other than that, I agree that rights are being trampled if the descriptions of the legislation are accurate.

Have I grieved/quenched the Holy Spirit

I like trusting the WORDS OF GOD and reading them in the context that they were given to understand them. Here is what GOD says about "grieving the Holy Spirit" in an easy to understand translation (because in this case, the "big picture" matters more than the "subtle details"). Ephesians...

When do you "expect" Jesus to return?

:jest: John 20:28-29 [ASV] Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed. [CSB] Thomas responded to him, "My Lord and my God! " Jesus said, "Because...

When do you "expect" Jesus to return?

I don’t know … prior to this generation, there seemed to be less confusion about the basic definition of “boy” and “girl”. ;) People seem to invent new ways of doing the same old evils - I suspect our inventiveness occasionally shocks even Satan.

When do you "expect" Jesus to return?

Or … they have a 50/50 chance. If the Preterists are correct, then the “really bad times” already happened and they escaped them (by being born after the ‘Tribulation’) If the Pre-Trib Rapture group is correct, then Jesus will sneak them out before the “really bad times”. If the Mid/Post-Trib...

When do you "expect" Jesus to return?

Final comment on a subject that will go nowhere: If you are correct, shame on Jesus for not being as righteous as an Angel and correcting Thomas (Like every Angel corrected every person that tried to offer any reverence due God to them) … instead Jesus affirmed his statement of belief!

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

:Zek: ”Everyone that passes through these doors are a blessing to this place, some when they enter and others when they leave.”

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

As fine a non sequitur as was ever posted. Scripture still has nothing to do with answering the actual question that the OP asked … but you keep “waiting to talk” instead of “listening”. You are very good at it. :vgood:

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

There is ZERO scripture on the Celebration of Christmas. So, Scripture is irrelevant to the question of who celebrated Christmas first: Christians or Pagans.

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

... but NOBODY made that claim. That was my point and the source of confusion. The actual question was: "Christian" or "Pagan" origin?

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

Posts #21 to #23 was his and my exchange before this. Post #21, while brief, implied it is wrong to celebrate Christmas because it is not in the bible (which suggests that someone claimed that it was). In Post #23, he explicitly states that someone claimed the origin of Christmas was Scriptural.

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

We better stop meeting in Church Buildings ... you would not BELIEVE where that tradition comes from! Chkl: [AND THERE ARE NO PANTS IN THE BIBLE!!!!!] o_O

When do you "expect" Jesus to return?

Asked and answered. But just to be clear: YES. Now your turn: Are these words ambiguous (κύριός μου καὶ ὁ θεός μου)? (from John 20:28-29)

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

You jumped in and seemed to imply that anything not in scripture was "bad/wrong/evil" so I pointed out other "Christian" things that are not in scripture. So, to address you HEAD ON: Which post claimed the Christmas Holiday was "scriptural"?

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

There are also no organs playing “Amazing Grace” in the Bible or Stained Glass Windows … are they of man and to be avoided?

When do you "expect" Jesus to return?

Technically, the Apostle John did that. I just believed them (John and Thomas).

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

Not completely. Like so much in life, there are no simple answers, so the "facts" will prove whatever goal you set out to prove. Let's start with Scripture: In the OT, there are no records of any celebrations of the anniversary of anyone's birth. "Birthdays" are a concept alien to the Jewish...

Where did the holiday Christmas come from?

You are speaking of the English word, so a good Dictionary can help with the origin of the word: Christmas, from Middle English (AD 1150-1480) Christemasse, from Old English (AD 450-1150) Cristes mæsse (literally, Christ's mass).
