Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

They thought the church I joined was a cult.

Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

We disagree. The foundation of Christianity is the gospel of the Christ and the gospel is laid out in the scriptures. If the scriptures aren't FULLY trustworthy then the message therein becomes doubtful, especially when supernatural claims are asserted.

Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

Personal anecdotal testimonies are of little value when searching for truth as they lend to perception subjectivity and personal biases. I was a prime example of someone with such a bias as I KNEW in my heart I had a personal relationship with the Lord for years. Such a belief turned out to be...

Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

Sort of. I was convinced that I had received the gift of the Holy Spirit after believing the gospel, repenting, and being baptized into Christ per Acts 2:38. Do you object to what the texts declares about the receipt of the HG? It hasn't been. Biblical narrative written almost a generation or...

Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

Tacitus, Josephus, Pliny the Younger, are all accounts I am very familiar with. None verify his deity, miracles, or even provide accounts of his activities. Extra-Biblical accounts of Jesus are just lacking. Just a couple to start with. 1. Scriptural Contradictions - Jesus' birth year...

Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

The writings that assert the existence, qualities, and alleged will of deity that collectively has been called the Bible by us is a manmade, at times contradictory, other times historically inaccurate, and oftentimes morally relative to the culture of the writer's day book that lacks credibility...

Heaven, What Do You Believe About It......

The Bible Hope that faithful men and women of old (such as King David) had for life after death was that in some future time, God would resurrect them and bring them back to life.

Why I'm Not a Theist Anymore

A decade plus of indoctrination doesn't just disappear. I sense remnants of the CoC in this comment.

Heaven, What Do You Believe About It......

So, the clear hope of the earliest servants of God was that He would remember them at some future time and resurrect them back to life, when they may be rewarded for their faithfulness.

People who don't believe in Jesus are going to Hell, correct?

You do realized, you tagged me in a quote, right?

People who don't believe in Jesus are going to Hell, correct?

I've read them all @Sabertooth and I have studied their surrounding contexts so I would not be cherry-picking to support my preconception. I have also read the texts below that assert that the hope of mankind ever since Adam sinned has been to overcome the wages of sin and the scriptures tell us...

People who don't believe in Jesus are going to Hell, correct?

None of those texts support the idea of Hell as promoted by most churches. What is taught throughout the scriptures is that there will be a RESURRECTION of the dead. Scriptures don't assert that the dead are in any way ALIVE. It says there will be a resurrection unto life as well as to...

THE MYTH OF SYSTEMIC RACISM IN AMERICA

Let's think this through to see if it has some holes. We know for a fact that discrimination and racism by the state existed in this nation and for 100's of years was codified in our very laws. In only recent history, those laws that imposed discriminatory practices and even racial oppression...

THE MYTH OF SYSTEMIC RACISM IN AMERICA

No quite true. The access is lacking for many minorities, women, and poor European Americans as well who don't mesh with the cultural norms of the ruling class. Who gets to determine who is upper management material? That is the issue. There is DEFINITELY an "old boy's club" that controls the...

People who don't believe in Jesus are going to Hell, correct?

Not likely. Hell as depicted throughout the majority of Christian beliefs, is simply not demonstrable in reality and on top of that, lacks scriptural backing. From what we can tell about how humans and living creatures for that matter work, it seems that once we stop living (we go brain dead)...

THE MYTH OF SYSTEMIC RACISM IN AMERICA

Correct! The system has a pervasive characteristic that sometimes inadvertently and other times purposely leads to biased outcomes. That characteristic has to do with the "who" that is and has been sitting in seats of power and influence within the system since the establishment of the system...

THE MYTH OF SYSTEMIC RACISM IN AMERICA

When discussing "systemic" issues it is not necessarily about legislation but instead is reflected in ares such as: - hiring practices - how we educate - lending practices - how suspects are represented and prosecuted

THE MYTH OF SYSTEMIC RACISM IN AMERICA

Can someone pinpoint exactly WHEN systemic racism ended?

Do you support Black Lives Matter?

Where is this proof? Remember, HCQ is used for rheumatoid related conditions and malaria and should not be utilized by those not afflicted with these conditions as its side effects and risks to those with poor immune health and heart conditions could be problematic. Hydroxychloroquine could...

Do you support Black Lives Matter?

I'm not familiar with God being anti-anarchy or hating lawlessness, but okay. I am familiar with God hating to have Its mandates ignored or broken. I'm seeing a leap being made needlessly E3Ones. Iniquity is defined as immoral or grossly unfair behavior and your claim is that Christian hate it...
