    The Coming Great Apostasy

Then why do we say, "God bless, Canada" or "God bless, America"? Yes, there are evil people who seek power and control of the masses, and, unfortunately, they often end up in government. But, would you like to be called evil, because of the actions of the corrupt leaders in each country?

    The Coming Great Apostasy

Yes, the nation of Israel (or rather, the remnant thereof) will finally embrace their Messiah (see Zechariah 12:10). It will be a great blessing but it will not be without some mourning. I am reminded of a story told by a Messianic Jew who ministered to the Jews. He said that there was an old...

    Ecstasy

They had been in slavery in Egypt for 400 years--probably little remained of the faith of their forefathers. They had to learn it all over again. Be that as it may, the Corinthians were still told by Paul that God "is not a God of confusion".

Paul admits to being a sinner but you are throwing dirt on his inspired writings. Paul told Timothy that ALL Scripture is "God-breathed". What are you going to do with that? So-called "higher criticism" started down the path you appear to be on--I would urge you to get on another path.

    Ecstasy

I was speaking specifically of their crossing. I don't know about you, but if God had suddenly opened a path through the sea when I was terrified of what the Egyptians would do to us if they caught up to us, I think I would likely be shocked into silence. In any case, we have strayed from...

    Hate

Since we have none of the writings of Barnabas, I would assume that Barnabas did not receive the Lord's favor in the dispute. The Apostle Peter calls Paul's writings Scripture. The truth is established on the basis of the witness of two or more.

    Ecstasy

    Yes, I did--did you?

    Ecstasy

If you read the account in Exodus, it sounds like it was very orderly and quiet. It was the Egyptians chasing after the Israelites who were thrown into chaos. He certainly can turn His enemies back on themselves and has done so on several occasions recorded in the Bible. But God's people...

    Ecstasy

The Apostle Paul also scolded the Corinthian Christians for having a free-for-all atmosphere in their meetings, saying, that God is not a God of chaos. But we know who is the Lord of Chaos--none other than Satan himself.

    Ecstasy

Willie, you have distorted the meaning of that passage, suggesting that the chaotic circus that goes on is somehow "of God." The Lord is not a God of chaos. Chaos is from the evil one.

Osteen is tickling their ears toward Joel Osteen's greater prosperity.

    Ecstasy

God raised the Israelites as a people who were very different from their pagan neighbors. Their neighbors engaged in all sorts of the behavior that is seen above. The demon-possessed witch doctors, in places that have never seen much of an impact from the gospel, do much the same yet today...

What on earth are you talking about!?! The Holy Spirit was speaking through Paul! What you have just said is not only heretical but blasphemous as well.

I am a Biblical counselor of many years. When someone has their will set on disobedience--there is nothing any counselor can say. Even Jesus said that He had longed to save the people of Jerusalem, "but [they] would not". The Holy Spirit comes to convict of "sin, righteousness and judgment"...

What to do when you are beyond repentance?

Having read everything, my impression is that you are trying too hard to become the Christian you think you ought to be. That is one of the problems with Reformed theology. For those so inclined, it makes the adherent obsessive in "proving" that he/she is indeed one of the chosen. The other...

    Mysticism

Another negative aspect to mysticism is the Apostle Paul's observation that those who "suppress the truth with their wickedness" (Romans 1:18) "knew God but refused to worship Him as God or even give Him thanks" and then "began to think up foolish ideas about what He is like"(verse 21).

What to do when you are beyond repentance?

Yes, I believe there's a difference between outright rejection of the claims of Christ and those who are ignorant of Him or have not formed an opinion about Him. There is a certain hardness that one sees in those who have outright rejected Christ.

    Mysticism

Revelation 19:10 says that the "essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus." The very early churches apparently got into trouble right from the beginning with mystics who claimed to be prophets. In Revelation 2, Jesus scolds the church at Thyatira for paying attention to some...

    Mysticism

Yes--there's a book called, The Beautiful Side of Evil by Johanna Michaelsen that tells her story of having been a part of the New Age mysticism and eventually occultism. It was published about ten years ago, I think. Some who have read it say that they thought it "terrifying". Others have...

    Hate

Sometimes it is necessary. The Risen Christ scolded the leadership of the church at Thyatira for "tolerating" a woman in their congregation who led people in sexual immorality. (See Revelation 2:20-22) She had apparently been given time to repent to no avail. She was polluting the church...
