22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Seriously? Where are the two comings? I'll get you started with a verse in Peter; 1Pet 1:11, Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Apparently the OT...

Very true. But how do those verses say Revelation is about the Christian church? It talks about the Passover lamb, bowls of incense, and priests. All of those are OT Jewish things. Christians aren't the only ones called saints in the scriptures.

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

I see you are so biased against anything I say that you spent no more that a few seconds considering what I said. I guess it's much easier to stick with tradition than to do honest scholarly research. I've been where you are. I was there for many years. But when I was presented with the ideas...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

1 or 2:1-2, 1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. If you read this like you would a newspaper, i.e., read what's...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Revelation is the fulfillment of all the promises God made to Israel. Gentiles are tangentially involved, but it's a stretch to call them "priests." Israel had a priesthood that was a big part of the OT, but no mention of a priesthood among the Gentiles. But one thing is sure, Revelation has...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

It's refreshing to see that there are Christians around who know the difference between the promises made to them and the promises mad to Israel. They're mixed up too often and thereby muddy the scriptural waters. :)

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

There are actually 2 kingdoms mentioned in Revelation. There is the millennial kingdom in chapter 19 & 20. This one is absolutely on the earth. It will last 1,000 years (Rev 20:4). The other one is the everlasting kingdom and that one will be on a new earth (Revelation 21:1-2, New Jerusalem...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

I'm thinking maybe we are both obstinate! But probably better to say we are both faithful to what we know. Nothing wrong with that. :)

And then you'd believe everything I say? :)

OK. We need to adjust Ephesians a bit: Eph 3:9, And to make all [men] see what [is] the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world WAS ONLY HINTED AT BY God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: For your edification here's what Paul thought God said, And to make all...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Ah...the seven churches. The word "church" is the Greek word "ekklesia" and there are more ekklesias in the scriptures than the Christian church. Acts calls a riotous mob an ekklesia. Revelations deals mostly with Israel with some things about Gentiles. Nothing in it about the Christian church...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

If you had read everything that everyone here has said to me (and others), you'd know that is a patently false statement.

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Well, you yourself said the only reason they knew about Elijah and JTB was that Jesus told them. Exactly! No need for special discernment of some sort. Jesus told them something and then they knew it. We do that all the time.

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

I don't see nothing about Jesus saying in Matthew that although they were not to preach to the Gentiles just, yet, they would later on. Seems to me like that's adding something that isn't there. Jesus said in no uncertain terms, A) he came only for Israel, and B) the apostles at that time were...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

How you can be so obstinate in the face of truth. Not that I don't love you...I most certainly do. :)

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

So somehow the folks to whom Jesus spoke in Matthew were supposed to know what he'd say sometime later? They should have known that Jesus didn't really mean that he came only for Israel, and that they really should have gone into the way of the Gentiles? Could it be that after Jesus rose from...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

My theory, and it's nothing more than my theory, is that if they think it's a gift and they haven't been "privileged" to receive that gift, they are absolved from the responsibility of speaking in tongues much to edify themselves and others (when interpreted in the church). If they don't like...

I would think an Israelite, particularly a spiritual Israelite, would understand Jewish idioms. BTW, there you go telling me what I think again. But it's OK, I still love you! Nonetheless you ought to be more careful in what you aver about other folks.

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Well, how much spiritual "insight" does it take to interpret John 11:35, "Jesus wept?" About 98% of the scriptures are just like that. I want to ignore Corinthians? What gave you that idea? I'll handle it right now: You are taking 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 out of context. It's talking about how the...

That last sentence is key! Very good.
