What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

With all the threads on this subject, all the verses that have been quoted, you ask me, "where is the Trinity revealed?" 75% of Christians in the world have a strong belief in the Trinity. I'm just one of the millions. If you're not, that's ok with me.

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

The Trinity is most definitely revealed in Scripture. The true relationship of the Trinity is not what's revealed in Scripture. I don't think man could understand the depth and structure of that relationship. The reason we were given a portion of it.

    Baptists!

I was raised in an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church, and I still attend an IFBC where I live now. You're going to find an assortment of Baptists, the closest you will find to the old time original Baptists are the Independents. Even they have different ways. When I moved from Wilmington...

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

OK, I've shown you that Paul and John both declare Christ as the Creator. You refuse to believe that Creator is deity. How that is possible, I don't know. Believe what you will, there comes a point where one is just banging their head against the wall!

    Difference between Catholic and Protestant.

Oh, I see, the RCC can't burn us at the stake or behead us any longer for disagreeing, so they threaten us with being cast into hell for disagreeing. Sounds about right!

    Difference between Catholic and Protestant.

LOL, I think you are the exception to the general rule of Catholics being respectful in discussion! Yes, I think someone told me a while back that Biblical history doesn't go past the 1st century. That is the lifeline of the RCC, "don't question us, the mighty Church, our account of history...

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

Yes, I'm very much aware that verse is marked as an add in. But how and why? This argument that has raged for centuries. In Defense of the Authenticity of 1 John 5:7 (A review) – AV1611 Blog In Defense of the Authenticity of 1 John 5:7 (A review) "No verse of sacred writ has endured more...

    Difference between Catholic and Protestant.

Simon could well have replaced James as the pastor of the Church in Jerusalem, I don't know. But we are talking Apostolic Succession here, and that will have to come from Scripture. And it ain't there!

    Difference between Catholic and Protestant.

That is Church history speaking, the "traditions of men" not the inspired Word of God! A whole lot of that going on in Catholicism. There are many things we assume from written history, but whose history is it, and is it true?

    Christ..........or self. ?

I don't want to take your thread off topic, it's just the statement you made, "If you will take my Son" reminds me of a story I heard many years ago. Haven't thought of it for quite some time until now. There was a very wealthy man who had only one son, his wife had passed away, and he had no...

    Difference between Catholic and Protestant.

The apostle James was killed in Acts 12, was he replaced? The Scripture doesn't say so! Peter being called by the RCC the first Pope is not recorded in Scripture! All "traditions of men."

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

I certainly agree you did a good thing! There is always more to be learned and understood from a teaching atmosphere rather than an argument based discussion.

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

Just read the article and basically agree with Dr. Patton. He stresses the need of explaining the wrong views of the Trinity rather than the attempt of what it is. This is nothing new, I have been in this argument literally hundreds of times. Every time this subject begins, one will point out...

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

No, I have not. I'm responding on what you have said about Dr. Patton. So I'm not aware of anything he said in the article other than what you have said.

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

I don't know Dr. Patton, have no idea who he is, but I can tell you he can't explain the Trinity. But I would expect that he has attempted to do so, and in his own way. Has Dr. Patton created some sort of heresy in his attempt to explain?

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

An analogy is a comparison used to clarify, there is nothing wrong with that type of expression. Some see things through a different lens, a different idea of how to compare and clarify. It does not lesson the identity of the object being compared when an analogy is used, if used in proper...

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

John most certainly seen a Trinity when he wrote, "there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, these three are One." Contrary to popular belief, no one can explain this three in One. We can only guess!

    New Covenant only for Jews?

The Scripture says that God has placed His Word above His name. I think it's safe to say that He places His Word above the Pope also!

    New Covenant only for Jews?

There have been many to flee the RCC in the past several years. The reason for the "Catholic come home" campaign. Yes, some of us Protestant's still hold to the belief of the Reformers as the main reason for separating from the RCC, "Sola Scripture/Scripture alone, as the only authority for...

What does Colossians 1:16 mean when it says "For by him were all things created..."

@Aunty Jane, the closest anyone can come to explaining the Trinity was shown to me over 40 years ago in Bible school. It's very simple and laid out in construction terms. God the Father is the owner of all things. God the Son is the architect who created the plans for all that exists. God the...
