Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

Another one departs from the faith, all for New Age mumbo jumbo. Pottage anyone? ... https://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/lectiodivina.htm http://apprising.org/2012/06/07/dr-gary-gilley-exposes-lectio-divina/ https://www.challies.com/articles/a-danger-of-lectio-divina/

Respectfully disagree as I see that approach as being spoon fed rather than learning to seek, dig, prepare, chew, and ruminate (ponder). When you stand before God on Judgment Day, will your excuse be, "My Church taught me so"?

    The Cross and The Devil

A trinity of 'no', although #2 is a close yes.

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

Yeah, well, whatever. I guess we have different definitions of the word 'challenge'. LOL

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

93? Try post 66, where you first challenged me. 93 was addressed to whom it may concern. If it concerns you, respond accordingly. If not move on. You weren"t the first to use the Temple/Body argument.

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

Sorry, but if I recall, you challenged my position first. I'm not so rude as to ignore a challenge directed at me. :)

Nothing, if it doesn't apply to you.

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

LOL, that's a personal choice. Personally I'd rather wear a T-Shirt with a message as tats are too permanent. It would be nice though if Christians weren't so allergic to the fine Arts.

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

Funny, many want to argue the body=Temple verse but overlook this one in their strife to be right... Romans 14:1-4 NASBS [1] Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. [2] One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is...

That sounds like the doors will be closing in about 10 minutes lol.

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

That says 'as yourself' meaning it's assumed already you love yourself. No Commandment needed. Notice in vs. 40, Jesus said 'on these two'. Which two? 1.Love God. 2 Love neighbor. There is no third to 'love self'. The moral law is summed up in the 10 Commandments. There is no 11th, "Thou shalt...

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

No. But neither is there a command to love yourself. Only modern day 'selfies' would like you to believe that is one of the commandments. Yes, but look at the context Paul mentions it in... Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and...

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

Yes, some turn the grace of God into licentiousness, but most like the above turn God's grace into works righteousness.

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

Actually I was just trying to help with my original point by saying, "We are not saved by our love, but by His" Somehow it got blown up where even others were jumping in. Oh well, so be it.

    Greatest Idol of Today

I believe those devices and our addiction to them are symptoms of a deeper problem relating to to the societies attitude towards God and His Word. Our media toys are no help though, as they lull us to sleep, unless used in His service.

So you chose to back bite me behind my back instead? In my book, that is cowardice. Have a nice life.

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

And you insisting I'm a Calvinist, even though I denied it? So now you won't engage me directly, but rather indirectly accuse me of "redicoulously distorting my position" ? That's real 'love', not in accord with Mt 18:15. But hey, who needs those 'legalistic Scriptures' anyways? Just flow with...

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

Sorry, yours was not a Commandment not to smoke but your deduction from Scripture. Mine to you was a clear principle of love, not to judge one another in these type of matters. Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all...

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

I'm a fundamentalist in my doctrine, but not a legalist in my practice. But smoking is a matter of conscience and I believe falls into the admonitions of Romans 14... Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations. For one believeth that he may eat all things...
