Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

I'm just not into the walk of legalism... Colossians 2:20-22 NASBS [20] If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, [21] "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!" [22] (which all...

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

If choice #2 had just said 'No', that would be my vote.

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

No, the choices were too limited.

Poll and thread: Is smoking always a sin?

It was never a sin. Which commandment did it break? Pushing it on someone or blowing smoke in their face may be sinning, as it is not loving others as yourself.

    An Eternal Song

Thrown into a dark poem, with no way out living a lie to me and to Thine. Entrapped by the wordsmiths, hopelessly confused by the many voices. Riddletown was my next stop... until The Poet reached down and spoke Life, Truth's light, shaping a new Creation, singing an Eternal Song.

Does anyone believe in Evolution anymore?

Sorry, but I'll put God's Word over any trip to the County Museum. But thanks anyways.

Does anyone believe in Evolution anymore?

Evolved from what? Notice the phrase 'after their kind' until it gets to mankind, where it says 'Let us make man in our image'. Genesis 1:11,21,24-26 NASBS [11] Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind...

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

Here is where it started. Jane's put down of 'theology' and my response which ties in nicely with 'Mature Christians not needing the written word?'. But continue with your 'gotcha' games if you must. I stopped and refused to discuss with you as you kept dragging the posts onto personal barbs...

Why didnt the Protestant Reformation unite.

    typo- 7 times. Playing 'gotcha'?

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

The verses you quoted are referencing and /or addressing those who are already Christian. Regarding your last sentence, if we wilfully break the 1st Commandment it is an indication that we may not be saved in the first place, and if we are saved we will ask for forgiveness. Since you quoted my...

Why didnt the Protestant Reformation unite.

Yes hindsight is 20/20 but again, not my point. I was commending them for their standing on their convictions (however wrong or right), unlike today's spirit of ecumenicism, which compromises convictions for the sake of 'together-ness'.

Thanks for your unsubstantiated opinion. While we are here, what Scripture did I put against other Scripture?

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

This was her original statement in post #173..."We aren't saved by our ability to pass a theology test. We are saved by our love of Christ, not our detailed knowledge of Him." All I have been doing is addressing that crucial point and all I have only gotten back smoke and mirrors. Our 'love'...

Why didnt the Protestant Reformation unite.

That wasn't my point at all. My point was that both Luther and Zwingli (although opposites on that issue) stuck tenaciously to their convictions, as they esteemed truth over political correctness. Now on the matter of "common sense", was it 'common sense' for Naaman the captain of the Syrian...

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

Show me just one verse that backs up J.Doe's statement..."We are saved by our love of Christ, ...". , since you think I "take up one passage in defense of a position that is not in accord with every other passage,.".

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

Fine, and until you explain yourself, from where I am standing, what you are preaching, Scripture has a warning to those who add their works to the work of Christ. You can read it in Gal 1:6-9. Have a nice life.

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

This isn't a Calvinist/Arminian issue. When you say 'we are saved by our love for Christ', it is a biblical/salvation issue. Where does the Scripture ever put salvation in our hands? Where does it say, 'we are saved by our love for Christ'? Instead this is what I read... Not by works of...

Like I said, when you are ready to discuss the topic rather than each other's foibles, let me know. :)

Mature Spiritual Christians No Longer Need the Written Word?

It's because all you seem to do is want to take the threads off the topic unto personal matters like you did in that post and this. When you want to discuss the actual topic without getting personally offended and lash back personally, give me a ring.
