I share my home with spiders

That was utterly cruel. You should not torment people with phobias.

    Who are the cowardly?

    Young's Literal Translation has fearful.

    Who are the cowardly?

God does not approve of cowardice. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practise magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death.’ Revelation 21:8 (NIV) What...

    How would Jesus vote?

I think Jesus wants me to vote for politicians who are opposed to war and to abortion ... among other things. The question of how Jesus would vote is however academic.

RC bishop gets it right (for once)

The Bishop of Motherwell has spoken out against abortion, and quite forcefully too. It certainly makes a change from covering up child abuse.

I share my home with spiders

I'm in the UK - big spiders in the south, but not in the north.

I share my home with spiders

First of all, I'm not sure that spiders in my home eat anything. I rarely see cobwebs - I think most of them are the non-web variety. Also, I believe that spiders can subsist for days without food. Second, even if they are eating something, then it does not follow that the bugs they are...

I share my home with spiders

Thanks. The point is that I get very few insects in my home. The only bugs I know I have in my home - because everyone has them - that are harmful to me are dust mites, and I would be very surprised if spiders eat dust mites.

I share my home with spiders

I've heard that before, lots of times. But what exactly are these bugs I don't want? And why are they harmful?

I share my home with spiders

A year or two back I decided to try to spider-proof my house. I did this by, for example, covering holes in the floorboards where the radiator pipes come through. I still get spiders though, and it dawned on me recently that before living in this house I lived for two years in private rented...

    I am annoyed

Thank you for some kind messages. Update: I appear to have stumbled on a solution to a tricky situation I was in. I praise God for looking after me once again.

    I am annoyed

I am really annoyed at the moment, and am listening to cheerful music to try to help me relax. Someone I know has just got angry with me and made me look like a liar (which I am not). I hope this situation can be smoothed out, but time will tell. Thank you in advance for any prayers.

Church of England ... oh dear ...

The Church of England cares about race. Members of the General Synod are to be asked to support an amendment to discipline measures making it "unbecoming" or "inappropriate" conduct for clergy to be members of a political party with policies and activities declared "incompatible" with Church...

Lynx and Lamb - I smell hypocrisy

Most of us will have heard of Lynx and Lamb Gaede, who as children used to perform as Prussian Blue. The Daily Mail - not the fastest newspaper in town - has just reported on them being medicinal pot smokers. This has been known for months now. Anyway, so the usual hooha about the swastika...

    The lesson of Esther

This text is from Esther 4: Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but...

    British press hypocrisy

The Daily Mail newspaper here in the UK is reporting on gender selection abortions in India, and calling them shocking. Abortion is always shocking, but I don't see the Daily Mail - or any other British newspaper - calling the British abortion industry shocking. I do not sit with the...

    Understanding Debt Paper

The last book of the Bible has been interpreted in all manner of ways by all manner of people, and I see no reason to believe that it is a prediction of debt. However it is true that fractional reserve banking is part of the dilemma facing the global economy today.

The Koran - have we been misled?

Until recently I believed that Mohammed was illiterate and that the Koran was not written down in his lifetime. Then I came across a video on Youtube which claimed that Mohammed was literate. I have just done a search, and the work book appears in the Koran more than 200 times. Several...

"Jesus Would Not Approve Of Abortions" President Carter

Christians should vote for a political party which makes at least some concessions to their Christian values. The Democrats make no such concessions. They support war and abortion. Issues like Medicaid are not more important. Do not vote for either the Democrats or the Republicans until they...
