Man has a part in his salvation=things to do, believe and say.

Calvin did not write the verses in the Bible that speak of election and predestination.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

I've been to churches with short sermons and the only thing I went away grateful for is that I could get to lunch quicker. As I'm growing in my faith I want more Bible and deep teaching and if my pastor can fit it in 20 mins then that's great. My personal concern is that it is difficult (not...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

I 100% agree with you on this. There is a balance. If a pastor is just "filling up" time just to do it then that is not fruitful. This is just my opinion, churches should not tell the pastor he has 20 mins, it should be flexible because some topics require more in-depth presentation.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

John 3:5 is not a reference to Christian baptism, it's a reference to Ezekiel's prophecy. How / why would a Jewish teacher of Israel know of Christian baptism? By the reaction of Jesus, Jesus expected Nicodemus to know the answer. It's being "Born of the Spirit" that counts, the new life...

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

Not every household has an infant in it. Why would the Holy Spirit lead Paul to write in Romans 6 that we are "buried" with Christ in baptism if it was just an act of sprinkling? Also, please answer me this. Where in Scripture do we see John the Baptist baptizing infants? He only baptized...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

Not everyone learns the same so that probably wouldn't work in a lot of places. One can't fully expect a pastor to dive into great detail in 20 minuets and touch base with everything he wants to. Many love the idea of short sermons because their heart isn't fully invested. We never get closer to...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

Of course not, because the verse is self explanatory.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

"All Scripture is God-breathed" - The Word of God is written by the Spirit and Holy Spirit inspired. "Useful for teaching" - God's Word teaches us sound doctrine and what is required of us and how God desires we live. "Rebuking" - At times we do have to rebuke another believer for sin in their...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

    Very well put together!

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

Sure would! John the Baptizer was not called John the Sprinkler!

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

Lol, ok. Baptism is a BURIAL, do you don't bury someone by sprinkling dirt on them. Baptism is a complete submersion. And you can't use Acts 2:38 as a proof text because you believe in baptizing infants who can't have faith or repent.

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

Can you go a single post without putting a person down?

    MATTHEW 3:11 BAPTISMS

John 6:29 - Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." True saving faith is obedient and does show fruit. People can say they believe in God all day long and not be saved. The difference is, do you believe that Jesus is Lord and submit to Him? If one does not...

    What is a Christian?

Is this something that us, present day believers are suppose to do?
