What I believe about the Atonement

Scripture, yes. I agree with the Bibl e but not with @Steve Owen 's interpretation of Scripture. That is what I have been saying (in my post you quoted). I believe Steve us wrong and has allowed tradition to inform interpretation when he should have been more careful with the text of the...

What I believe about the Atonement

I never begrudge any their beliefs (even if borrowed from a "study Bible"). We can all quote people who support our views, and we can all call the other person wrong. But who cares? Scripture is what matters.

Covenant with Adam in Covenant Theology

For those familiar with Covenant Theology and the idea that God made a covenant with Adam (expressed in God's command for Adam not to eat of the fruit). The way it has been explained to me is Scripture tells us that God commanded Adam not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of...

A Wheel In The Middle Of A Wheel

OK. I think I'm following you. It was not a message for the ancient past but speaking to those who would understand the symbolism (using symbols they would understand).

A Wheel In The Middle Of A Wheel

I think the biggest problem is that the illustration is not really what the element looks like.

Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

I have no desire to hear of your desire about my desire.

Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

I have no desire either way. You can believe we are under the Law or you can believe we are not under the Law. You can believe we must worship on Saturday or you can believe we can worship on any day of the week. You can believe that you are observing the Sabbath on this day or that, or you can...

Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

Again, I understand that is what you believe.

Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

Again, I understand but your belief has not created in me a sense of obligation.

Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

I understand that is what you believe, and have no problem with you believing it.

Heresy, Heretics, and Hurt feelings...oh my

I think the "one faith" refers to Christ and the gospel, not other doctrines that divide Christians into denominations.

Heresy, Heretics, and Hurt feelings...oh my

Probably we are more along the same lines than we might appear.

    Entitled to my opinion....so there!

That is the reason for debate and argument (to examine the defense). Opposing sides always see the opponents evidence as bogus. But that's where the argument has to be. If you are able to demonstrate the evidence wrong then the opinion really does not matter.

    Entitled to my opinion....so there!

I keep thinking of C. S. Lewis. His works, I suppose, have had an impact on how I think. I think we can hold an opinion or belief only Insofar as we can defend that view.

Heresy, Heretics, and Hurt feelings...oh my

It does not seem to work this way in practice. But perhaps this depends on the group involved. I keep thinking of my denomination (SBC) which views a denial of eternal security as a departure from foundational truth (a heresy) yet does not consider those who deny eternal security as heretics...

    Forsaken

Maybe we do not agree. I am saying we call God Father. If you disagree then we disagree. If you agree then we agree. I believe in keeping it simple. I'm too old to waste valuable brain cells. Did that when I was younger.

    Forsaken

You are agreeing with me (except the last part where you draw a distinction between Christ and God) while appearing not to agree with me. I like that. It's like a riddle that, when solved, makes you forget the initial question. ;)

    Forsaken

I think "don't call anyone father" refers to men (we do not elevate man in the place of God). We have to keep in mind that Christ often spoke of God as Father, not only His but ours.

    Forsaken

The problem, IMHO, is that we have to be very careful not to form a dichotomy between God and Jesus. If Jesus is God then he is immutable in His nature as well. Man looked upon Christ as He set aside that glory - but Scripture seems to indicate having do so He remained God. It is a topic we...
