Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

I think you are referring to Paul attending the synagogue "as was his custom" and preaching to the Jews on the Sabbath. The Gentiles begged that Paul would preach to them the next Sabbath. I seems as if you believe this as evidence Gentiles are commanded to observe the Sabbath (which is nice...

Does the day of Christ resurrection tell us to worship on Sunday?

Actually, I can. Read Acts. The earliest Christians were Jews. A major issue for them was salvation to the Gentiles (read Romans). The Jewish Christians observed Jewish customs (it was a part of their identity) and maintained the customs. But they did not require this of Gentiles (read Acts).

Heresy, Heretics, and Hurt feelings...oh my

I disagree (of course). The reason I disagree is that salvation points to those who will be saved "on that day". People who are saved are saved. I think you may be confusing knowing we are saved (at any given time) with actually being saved (on that day). I say this because "eternal...

    Entitled to my opinion....so there!

That's your opinion. :p I just notice how many jump on things like straw-man, ad hominem, red herring..... But "right to an opinion" is also a logical fallacy. The issue is not about having an opinion, but tryi g to use an unsubstantiated opinion in an argument. It's like the "agree to...

I will stop here. You are confused, Steve. I think it is because of my wording. I have not taken my theology from those men any more than you took yours from John Calvin. My point is that it is that you affirmed my definition of "forsake" is within the range of meaning for the word (God...

    Entitled to my opinion....so there!

I know it is common. But in an argument it is actually a logical fallacy if that opinion has no evidence supporting the conclusion. By nature all opinions are subjective but without evidence it ia a red herring. This does not mean people do not have a right to say it (people can say all...

Universalism: Where Do People Get The Idea

That makes a lot more sense than trying to cause them pain.

Universalism: Where Do People Get The Idea

Then the Hell of these guys seems like Purgatory to me as well. I guess the difference is the absence of Purgatory (or Hell...just this one place).

Universalism: Where Do People Get The Idea

Perhaps. I do not know enough of Catholic belief to say that they believe all will ultimately be saved. I always thought of Purgatory as kinda in between (not Heaven or Hell).

Universalism: Where Do People Get The Idea

Different reasons, I suppose. George MacDonald held this view and is probably one most studied, at least by virtue of his influence on C.S. Lewis (who was not a Universalist). He viewed Hell as a type of refining fire that serves a redemptive purpose. "I believe that no hell will be lacking...

    Entitled to my opinion....so there!

It is difficult to count the times I have been told by someone that they are entitled to their opinion and I am not sure where people get this notion. In an argument this is a logical fallacy (it exemplifies a red herring fallacy). Think about it for a moment. An opinion by definition is...

Heresy, Heretics, and Hurt feelings...oh my

There seems to be confusion regarding the difference between heresy and a heretic. A heresy is a doctrine that is held by someone at variance with the established religious beliefs. A heretic is someone who believes contrary to the fundamental tenets of a religion to which he claims to belong...

Steve Chalke is right in that it is against God's nature to punish the righteous in place of the wicked. In fact, Scripture is clear that this is an abomination to God. Also, Scripture is clear that Jesus "has too pure eyes to behold sin" (Jesus cannot condone sin). While the "cosmic child...

I cannot help who would and would not affirm "me". On this issue, there are many who would yet we do not hold to everything the other affirms (C.S. Lewis, N.T. Wright, George MacDonald, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Polycarp, Ignatius....to name a few). The point is not affirming my position but...

I do not affirm the "cosmic child abuse" illustration. People often misrepresent other views (like saying Calvinism makes men robots, Free-will theology makes men the authors of their own salvation, and the one mentioned here). We need to stay above the nonsense. Habakkuk confirms that Jesus...

This is the problem with @Steve Owen 's comment regarding the "likes of me". I am a servant and brother to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, purchased not by gold or silver but by His own blood. Where I would fail, in Christ I stand. I am a son, a husband, and a father. I am a retired soldier...
