    Calvinism

The ones that I have seen on this forum are indoctrinated into Calvinism. They redefine words and re-write history to support their religious philosophy. Calvinism is their religion. Calvinism is their gospel. They do not understand Calvinism. Calvinism as a gospel is another gospel than that...

    Calvinism

Not really. It's all just religious philosophy and none of it even matters if their presuppositions are incorrect.

LOL....again, you seem to lack even the basic understanding of Church history. You seem to have discipled yourself under the writings of many men. I recommend you set aside human wisdom and just read the Bible. Do you believe Calvinism is the gospel of Jesus Christ?

    Calvinism

LOL...you really have no clue, do you. The anti-missions movement was one result of hyper-Calvinism. The issue was not only in England (R.B.C. Howell combated it here). Calvin and Beza held the traditional Calvinistic view (supralapsarianism). The anti-missions movement was largely reactionary.

    Calvinism

Do you believe Calvinism is the gospel? Do you believe "foreknowledge" has a "biblical meaning"? Do you believe the Early Church Fathers taught Calvinism?

    God gets the glory.

    Calvinism

A Calvinist understands predestination in salvation along the lines expressed in the Canons of Dort. But to a Calvinist this is soteriology. A Hyper-Calvinist holds Calvinism as the gospel. To him it is his religion. A Hyper-Calvinist rejects traditional hermeneutics because it makes God...

    Calvinism

That is a good point. Christ is the Lamb slain from the foundation. The cross was pre-determined by the Father. It was ordained that Christ would suffer and die. The Father laid our sins on Him. The Father offered His Son as a sin offering. A consistent Calvinist has to deny that Christ lay...

    Calvinism

No Calvinist here has been able to defend their view with Scripture (with what is written). All we get is "that's not how good theology is done". The Calvinists here have only succeeded in regurgitating their same worn out theology and unrelated passages in an attempt to conceal their inability.

    Calvinism

Hyper-Calvinists do not believe themselves hyper. Why do you believe you are not a Hyper-Calvinist?
  11. John Caldwell

    Calvinism

Many Calvinists don't read Scripture. They search it for proof texts to support their theories. ;)

    Calvinism

Do you believe all of the theories of Atonement should be called "doctrines" or just the one(s) you hold? This should read to you. It (the atonement) makes no sense without Penal SubstitutIon TO YOU. Most Christians throughout history and alive today have not shared your problem. Yes. God set...

    Calvinism

Has anyone else noticed that anyone who disagrees with @Steve Owen , @David Taylor , @Anthony D'Arienzo , and @Preacher4Truth is automatically "snide" or something like that? I am starting to think it is not a coincidence Steve and David came here at the same time to join the hyper-Calvinists...
  14. John Caldwell

    Calvinism

I do not think this can be helped. They are indoctrinated into a tradition and are unable to learn because they are unwilling to consider their tradition may be wrong. @Anthony D'Arienzo has told us he does not believe the literal method of defining words in Scripture (the plain meaning...
  15. John Caldwell

    Calvinism

I agree. We cannot hate people, but we pray God will open their eyes and hearts. I think tradition is often too much an obstacle for some.
  16. John Caldwell

    Calvinism

You indicated in Biblical foreknowledge (post 294) that Calvinism is the gospel. I, for one, have a strong distaste for gospels other than the gospel of Jesus Christ. I just do not appreciate cultish belief, and it is worse when held by professing Christians. Christianity was not in want of...

    Calvinism

The Jews had various ideas. The Sadducees did not believe in spirits or an afterlife of reward and punishment. Pharisees believed both in the bodily resurrection and an afterlife that included a judgment along covenant lines. But insofar as a Hell, I have not seen Jewish literature indicating a...

    Calvinism

I agree (both hell and the grave are poor references for Sheol).
  19. John Caldwell

    Calvinism

No. "Hades" refers to the grave (where both the righteous and wicked went). The "lake of fire" is different (what Scripture refers to as the "second death").
  20. John Caldwell

    Calvinism

I am not interested in religious secrets. Scripture is enough for me. But thank you all the same.
