    At an early age I - an undeserving sinner - was impressed at the need for the new birth (John 3). I recall the joy and peace of exercising faith and trust in the Lord Jesus.

    Light and darkness form part of the background themes in both John's Gospel chapter 1 and John's First Epistle. And Paul says in Colossians 1.12: "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light..."
