The extortion gospel - "believe or burn" - not really a choice

But my Master is the innocent One who took the punishment for sin upon Himself as He hung from a cross. My Master is the One who was dead for three days and yet now lives forever. And my Master is perfectly just; He does not torture because His wrath is complete and fair. Your master...

The extortion gospel - "believe or burn" - not really a choice

For those curious, I will shed some light on these arguments of John Calvin. Gehenna was essentially a fire pit for garbage. It burned continuously for the people of Israel as a functional means of waste disposal but also as symbolism for the result of the activities which took place there...

The extortion gospel - "believe or burn" - not really a choice

You and I serve different masters. My Master is the very essence of love, the origin of compassion, the source of ethics and morality. Your master invokes frightful things to compel acquiescence, removing any freedom to consider alternatives. I am free to contemplate any idea I choose. I can...

    The PARODY collection #1

Eyyy, me too! I appreciate your perspectives. I applaud your practice. I apprehend your points. Words are powerful. So powerful, in fact, that they were the only tool the Creator used to make EVERYTHING. I wonder how many syllables the Aramaic equivalent of "be gone!" would be; although I...

The extortion gospel - "believe or burn" - not really a choice

Where? What love lies in the sentiment, 'you will burn without dying forever if you don't say this incantation'? Is the secret to eternal life so simple as 'Lord, please come into my heart'? What was all that about working out ones salvation with fear and trembling? To thump with a Bible...

The extortion gospel - "believe or burn" - not really a choice

Before you go accusing me of being a false teacher, please bear in mind that I am merely a student of Life and the Word and prone to emphatic language. I am a passionate man. But I don't mean to be rude and I would like to address what you wrote. You use one translation of Matthew 10:28. The...

English Declared Official Language of U.S.

I disagree. It has much to do with how I returned to the faith, learning more words of my own native language. How could I appreciate the depth of Scripture if I did not know the meaning of the words it contains? As the symbols of math for equations and calculations, words empower us to apply...

Thank you for the warm welcome. I strive to be reticent. The birth date I input was 1/2/34.

    Standing… Survey… YES or NO………………?ONCE SAV-ED…SAV-ED FOREVER [OSAS)?

Brother, I enjoyed your post so much and the selection with it that I would like to add to it my preferred interpretation; the American translation (Smith & Goodspeed, The Complete Bible, University of Chicago 1939). 1 Peter 1:3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his...

The extortion gospel - "believe or burn" - not really a choice

I agree with you. Most pulpits do not project truth. How do we know? Easy. They are not hated. Yes, the masses mock ministry today for the hollow shell of a faith it is, but Jesus promised us persecution. Are we to think hurtful words are persecution? Hardly! Consider what Christ endured and...

Should the Gospel of John be removed from the Bible?

Does no one recognize the voice? It is abundantly clear in John's Gospel and cannot be imitated. One can speak the language of truth from the pulpit, but it has no meaning when leavened with falsehood. The seminary-trained and carnal 'leaders' lack the coherency of the Scriptures and the...

    Gratitude

I think it best to lay this to rest and call it an answered prayer I may complain loudly and boast oh so proudly yet still I am in His care

This is where the danger comes from

The danger is in the abundance of lies. They accumulate and compound. There are Christians who insist they believe both the Bible and evolution. This cognitive dissonance not only separates people from truth, it often renders them offended by it.

LIKE IT OR NOT, YOU ARE A DISPENSATIONALIST, AND HERE IS WHY

I don't use a theological framework to interpret Scripture. I don't take it all literally. My only point is that a label too broad is a label diminished in utility. I simply advise caution as I know I have often been too quick to make assumptions.

LIKE IT OR NOT, YOU ARE A DISPENSATIONALIST, AND HERE IS WHY

There are labels to which I will acquiesce, but none of them have an "ist" suffix. I will accept sheep, slave, son, etc. The Spirit led individual is apt to defy categorization much like Jesus defied the rigid religious rules of the pharisees.

You ever here this question from non-believers? Why did God kill in the OT and say Love others in the NT ?

I do not contest your assertion, I only offer my own. Prior to the ascension of Christ, man could not possess the indwelling Spirit. Although the patriarchs seemed to bear the mantle of righteousness by nature, Israel was generally directed externally. An aspect of the beauty of Christ...
