Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

Irrespectively, the guide outlined in v5 is a universal on how to live before the Lord, and breaking it is sin, which, it says, compromises justification (ie, condemns)--that reality was the difficulty making it difficult to settle in to the peace based on the justification by the righteousness...

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

l I'm getting this understanding that after I'm right with God by grace through faith in Christ, there is an expectation that I will be free, and that that involves being motivated forward by hope and joy (even in small matters), and that that is the opposite of being afraid, worrying about my...

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

And I see Ro 14 as parallel with Paul's expectations of the Galatians--it pictures men who began by grace and faith/the Spirit who are becoming perfect by grace and faith (vv5, 23) and not works of the Law.

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

That's the difficulty I've been having--balancing the two doctrines. The issue is I can't get around verses like Ro 14:5, 23, but I think they don't conflict with Ro 5:1 if you don't see yourself getting right with Jesus, and obtaining peace, by walking in love and faith, but that what is not...

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

Yeah, and, again, the entire question of the convo you joined has been as to the substance of the message that is to be believed, bc if it doesn't make sense, there can't be faith in it.

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

I said a slave (ie, a Jew) and a son (a christian ) work but only onecis accepted and this shows work isn't enough

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

I was saying it was Paul's prescription against their Law keeping "to become perfect" after beginning by faith and grace--yes, becoming perfect in grace.

Yeah, but this is a general principle that has absolute application--"therefore whether you eat or drink or what ever you do"--so "the one who knows to do good and he doesn't do it for him it is sin", so the person could be thinking, "If i am sinning, and condemned, not justified, if I don't do...

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

It's one thing to be a son, it's another thing to behave like one--"If I am a Father, where is My honor?"

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

But you wouldn't think Paul's usage of "await" in "we through the Spirit by faith await the hope of righteousness" has to do with the substance of God's love in the heart which he says is absent when we are facing ourselves (eg, through the Law) instead of facing God (ie, through faith in the...

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

I also know I have had hope and joy that I would bring glory to God, earlier on in my walk, even before I had time to build proven character, so I may be wrong about my speculation on that.

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

Yeah, even so, there is a right and a wrong way to serve--"obedience" is assumed of both a slave and a son (Ro 8), but a slave is rejected, only a son is accepted.

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

I have had trouble balancing Ro 5:1 with Ro 14:5, 23, but it may be that the idea is that the person merely remains in the peace they already had in Ro 5:1, not that they are without peace, and finally obtain rest after doing the things they are convicted are correct.

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

"this grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of God's glory" : I believe the "stand" relates to "stumble", so that the "stand" refers to righteousness, as we are "under Grace" as the means of service. This approach Paul has to righteousness is the same as... Galatians 5:5For we through...

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

Jer 23:6 says Christ's Name is "God Is Our Righteousness", so I believe "God Is Our Righteousness"--any idea of "imputation" would have to square itself with that reality. Those who abide in Him, and He in them, have GOD as their righteousness, not merely "His righteousness" "imputed".

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

Yup, so Paul's instruction on what he wants Timothy to do can't have anything to do with that (it was already done). 1. 1 Jn 2:28 instructs those born of Him "abide in Him", so abiding doesn't happen as you suggest (by being born of Him). If it happened that way, there would be no instruction...

Bible Study: The Gospel is in the Torah

I didn't realize he was condemning you. I honestly don't understand him. I've seen him, I think, say "faith alone", and, also, "faith plus works". I don't think English is his first language, so, in some of those cases, I don't press issues, because the subject matter is already difficult enough...

Only Those Who Do the Will of God Will Enter the Kingdom

I'm not really acquainted with the "imputed" concept; I feel safer affirming Jesus' Name is "God Is Our Righteousness" (Jer 23:6), and this is because we are in Him and He is in us, and God is in Him, thus God is in us, and God is our righteousness as we abide in Him. How would you say this...
