Hellfire and brimstone has given way to eternal separation from God. - Why?

People should come to Christ out of love, not out of fear. Hellfire based evengelicism is fear based and usually spiritually abusive. It is good that people are moving away from it.

5 members of Jehovah’s Witnesses congregations charged with child sexual abuse in Pennsylvania

Truth is not determined by popular opinion. Either by folks saying “this is great” or “everyone thinks we’re trash so that means we must be doing something right!” Think and investigate for yourself. Not according to what any group or single human tells you what to.

    ...

There’s a lot to cover here, so I’m going to do it bullet point style focusing the big ones: - Yes, I am a practicing LDS Christian - Yes, LDS Christians do use the Bible. Example: I just save a sermon from the pulpit last week going over Acts 6-9 and talking about themes of coming to Christ...

    ...

You're talking to an actual practicing LDS Christian. Jesus is enough. Rest of your statements also not accurate. As to why there are different denominations: because Christianity isn't a monolith and there are different views on different theological topics. Example: Calvinism versus...

    ...

That’s only half the story. The full picture: Faith in Christ comes first. This is absolutely foundational and what makes a person a Christian. We are saved by grace, not by you working your way to Heaven. But Christ did not die on the cross so you can unapologeticly continue to kiss Satan’s...

Are you here to convert people?

I’m not not remotely here to convert people. Now if so one comes away from a conversation with me as a better person, that’s fantastic! Totally regardless of there religious affiliation- an atheist coming away a better person (and still atheist) is great. I have encountered some people on...

Denominations that teach only they will be saved

Mormons believe that pretty much everyone will spend eternity happy beyond thier wildest dreams.

Once Blood Bought and Justified, Always Blood Bought and Justified? ... You Betcha!

Don’t worry Amigo, I’ve spent decades thoroughly examining actual LDS Christian beliefs :)

Once Blood Bought and Justified, Always Blood Bought and Justified? ... You Betcha!

(Normally I would defer this to PM to avoid derailing the thread, but as this is your thread ok). You are obviously welcomed to believe whatever you do. To clarify what I & other LDS Christians believe: yes, Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Divine. He is God. He is MY Savior (+everyone...

Once Blood Bought and Justified, Always Blood Bought and Justified? ... You Betcha!

Actual “Mormon” here, only one on this site: Jesus Christ is the divine Son of God. He is God. My Savior, my King, and without Him I wouldn’t be here at all.

    Removed Thread.

My perspective: I'm dedicated to Christ and Truth. I shout my testimony, my love of Him, and the light He has shared with me. "Mormons" do indeed celebrate Jesus Christ, the very Son of God. I don't find value in putting others down or going on about why I think they are wrong. Rather than...

    Removed Thread.

FYI: actual "Mormon" here: Jesus Christ IS the Son of God. Divine. My Savior and Lord. He saved me when I was a child, both from sin and the earthly terrors of life. I literally would not be here today if it wasn't for Him. He is my King and dedicate my life to Him.

    Orthodoxy or Heterodoxy

Strang and his group broke off from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1844.

    Orthodoxy or Heterodoxy

Nope, it's yitoz's spin on things. He was a member briefly half a century ago. As the the book "Mormon Doctrine", despite the misnomer of a name, this isn't a source of LDS Christian doctrine and never was. It was written by a middle-level dude without even telling leadership. Essentially...

    Orthodoxy or Heterodoxy

The OP is a grossly inaccurate recounting "telling" of LDS Christian beliefs. It amazes me how folks can't be bothered to get facts straight to respectfully discuss actual beliefs, and instead need to "fight" a strawman they invent.

    Orthodoxy or Heterodoxy

I have no interest in debating you. I wish you luck in wherever your faith journey takes you.

    Orthodoxy or Heterodoxy

And if anyone wants to talk to an *actual* LDS Christian (nicknamed "Mormon") and get the real story, let me know. With all possible respect to the OP here: he had a fling with this half a century ago and his post here is extremely biased and inaccurate.

    Athens or Jerusalem or Neither?

Bingo. And even "secrecy" doesn't apply to temple rites- it's 2023, nothing is secret. The symbolic penalties were completely removed in 1990. And yes, they were symbolic and showing convection to Christ's cause, akin to saying "cross my heart and hope to die". People weren't actually...

    Athens or Jerusalem or Neither?

Starting big picture and then working more specific: LDS Christians believe in making commitments. I made a commitment to my husband when I married him. I made a commitment to God at my baptism, taking His name upon myself and promising to try to follow Him. Commitments don't create a...
