The Problem with 2 Peter 1:1

It appears to me that Rich has thought and prayed a lot about the subject. It was his comments on 2 Peter 1:1. on another thread that motivated me to start this one.

The Problem with 2 Peter 1:1

I agree that Matthew 28:19 is often used to offer proof of the trinity. My point was that while the verse mentions the three, it says nothing to support the trinity which says that the three are coequal, coeternal and coexistent. So I don’t see why it is a “go to” verse. Have a great day.

The Problem with 2 Peter 1:1

Matt 28:19 says nothing to indicate the Father, Son and holy spirit are coequal, coeternal and coexistent.

Does “I am” prove Jesus is the Almighty God?

The first scripture to be studied is Exodus 3:14. Is “I Am” the best translation? “The writer [of Exodus 3:14-15] ... explains it [the meaning of God's name] by the phrase EHYEH asher EHYEH(Ex. iii., 14); this can be translated `I am that I am' or more`exactly 'I am wont to be that which I am...

    A Curious Question For Non-Trinitarians

Is everyone who disagrees with you delusional? “The writer [of Exodus 3:14-15] ... explains it [the meaning of God's name] by the phrase EHYEH asher EHYEH(Ex. iii., 14); this can be translated `I am that I am' or more`exactly 'I am wont to be that which I am wont to be' or `I will be that which...

The Problem with 2 Peter 1:1

You might benefit from looking at John 4:24 at biblegateway.com. Notice how the great majority of translations add “he” or “the one” or even “the Messiah.” I think it’s about 50 out of 60. Look too at how few capitalize “am” there and at John 8:58. That shows they don’t view ego eimi there as a...

The Problem with 2 Peter 1:1

So far it has been shown that 1 John 5:7 and 2 Peter 1:1 are both, at best, disputed as verses that support the trinity. There are several other trinitarian “proof”scriptures that translators don’t agree about. It is noteworthy that most of these the translators are trinitarian. I’ll post more...

    A Curious Question For Non-Trinitarians

I liked your comments about all scriptures needing to be in harmony there are verses used to support the trinity. Yet there are so many that indicate otherwise. I started a new thread about the problem with 2 Peter 1:1. I hope you can share your thoughts on that subject.

The Problem with 2 Peter 1:1

2 Peter 1:1 is often used to support the trinity. “Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:” Here is the problem. Granville Sharp made a rule in 1798. Sharp's...

Does God want us to use His name?

Here is a video titled Does God Have a Name? The first link is in English. The second link is in Hebrew. You can compare them. At the 2:00 mark you can clearly hear the Hebrew pronunciation being used today...

Four Beautiful Truths from the KJV

Psalms 83:18 “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.” Ezekiel 18:4 “The soul that...

Does God want us to use His name?

Regarding John 10:30 and the Trinity: “Now we come to the supreme claim of I and the Father are one,’ said Jesus. What did he mean? Is it absolute mystery, or can we understand at least a little of it? “If we go to the Bible itself for the interpretation, we find that it is in fact so simple...

Does God want us to use His name?

Matthew 28:18 “Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth.” Who gave Jesus that authority?

Does God want us to use His name?

You didn’t ask if a list of evils was all I had. You asked if what I wrote was all I could think of as if I am too stupid to come up with anything else. That said, I am not concerned about your manners. I have been talking with people like you for over 50 years. Your manner is predictable. But I...

Does God want us to use His name?

I enjoyed reading your comments. You have obviously done some serious research and study. I expect you have that found most people prefer the doctrines of men. It is easier to be part of the world than to travel the narrow road that few find.

Does God want us to use His name?

I will not begin my response with an insult. So, you believe it is the Christian congregation’s role to introduce evil? God knew sin and death was going to occur and yet he proceeded anyway? That makes him responsible for all the suffering in human history. What a horrible god you believe in...

Does God want us to use His name?

So God’s perfect plan was to have his church ally itself with Rome, adopt pagan beliefs and practices, commit some of the worst atrocities in history in the Inquisitions and Crusades, torture and burn at the stake men who were trying to translate and distribute the Bible to common people etc...

Does God want us to use His name?

I find it much easier to believe the church was off track for 1900 years than to think true Christians entered an unholy alliance with the pagan Roman Empire imitating Rome’s bloodlust in the Inquisitions and Crusades, burning people at the stake for trying to translate and distribute the Bible.

    Is smoking a sin?

There is no basis for capitalizing Lord in this verse. You are doing so to imply this is referring to the Father’s name. This confusion is the result of removing the Tetragrammaton and replacing it with Adonai. This confusion makes it easier to blur the distinction between the Almighty God and...

    Is smoking a sin?

Why are you capitalizing Lord when referring to Phil 2:11 from the KJV? In Phil 2 who exalts Jesus? Who gives him his name? Who is to receive the glory from confessing that Jesus is Lord?
