Questions for those who believe in modern day prophecies

I missed this when it was first posted. "Continuists" here (that's a funny word, makes tongue tickle)-- Quick aside- I always love your threads Scoot and the generally respectful/Christ-like way you handle things. Another note-- I'm not a person whom rambles off memorized references. I'll...

    Bible alone?

theefaith it's helpful reply to a specific post. That indicates you're talking with a person and responding to what they say. Perpetual free-standing posts give the impression that you're not listening to anyone. And if your end goal here is "we should all be Catholic": no. None of this...

My brain tumor results (to my friends)

YAY!!!! So many things to be grateful for this week!

    Bible alone?

And lots of denominations claiming Traditions all. Such isn't remotely proof that "we should all be Catholic!" or anything like that. It's not proof of any group being correct. If a person want to know which group/view is correct, then they're going to have to put the effort into studying and...

    Bible alone?

Let God speak. Do not confine it by men's traditions/interpretations. I acknowledge that you and I disagree here, but I do passionately find the be the "Sola Scriptura" to be a placement of men and men's traditions above God Himself.

    Bible alone?

How about God defining what God means? Not men or men's traditions or men's understandings. Hence I can't embrace Sola Scriptura.

    Bible alone?

^This comment is a screwed and unproductive jab. You don't need it @theefaith

    Bible alone?

Except I find Sola Scriptura to be the opposite of that. "Sola Scriptura" is about men telling me about which words they find to be God's words (limiting it to just those words), and their interpretation of it (and just thier interpretation). Anything that varies from that is not accepted...

    Bible alone?

Again: I find the reverse to be true.

    Bible alone?

While I respect your thoughts here, I personally find the reverse to be true and that "Sola Scriptura" elevates men's tradition above all else.

    Bible alone?

You don't. One of the major reasons Sola Scriptura does not hold up in my eyes at all.

I'm a Christian and I support the legality of same-sex marriage

Then you don’t actually support the legal rights of homosexual marriage, because that includes the idea that they have these relationships acknowledged equal as all.

I'm a Christian and I support the legality of same-sex marriage

So you believe a person can choose to not acknowledge the relationship of another? Therefore, a person can choose to not acknowledge a homosexual relationship?

I'm a Christian and I support the legality of same-sex marriage

Let me fully understand your position: Do you support the right of adults in the following situtation: Sarah (18), Mike (19), and Jasmine (25) are all married of their own free will to Bob (47) whom spoils Sarah, but regularly beats Mike and Jasmine. All individuals are adults, voluntarily in...

    "Son": Literal or Metaphor?

Literally, BOT NOT literal in the way us small minded mortals think of it. Mary was a virgin, and conception was via the Holy Spirit, not via sex/semen. Christ also obviously existed and was God before being placed in Mary's womb (and after too). I believe in one God, with three divine...

    Why only 144,000?

This was a well thought out post, thank you for sharing your faith journey with us. Aside: I'm a "Mormon" and joyfully could sign my name at the bottom of the Apostles Creed.

    The Ten Commandments—What happened?

Yes. By Christ's own words you can't dismiss the old commandments.

Christians and the Law of Moses

Pro tip: before you offhandedly dismiss somebody (let alone lots of somebodies), take the time to listen and understand the, particularity their belief in Jesus Christ, the Everlasting Son of God.

    The Ten Commandments—What happened?

Part of which is keeping the 10 commandments. Like loving another person involves being truthful with them.

    The Ten Commandments—What happened?

People/civilization being weaker on manners of faith. It’s a slippery slope of self-excusing sins.
