What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

ok @Blueberry , I'm back from errands. I need to do some major clarification on after-life things. Ok what I do believe-- Today, the Father is my Father. Christ is the Son of God and my Savior. God is my Lord, whom I praise on my knees and am absolutely helpless without. The Father and...

Genesis 1:26–27 Got to run now, will answer more in a few hours.

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

That's cool, so do I. Honestly, in all my study of dozens of different Christian beliefs, I've never met a single Christian who didn't also include some other source. I'm very open about that in my beliefs. Yes. The "correct" part is referring to translation. And all scripture is...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

And there were others that used the Bible to justify slavery. And one of the reasons LDS folks were so heavily persecuted in the 1800's were for being abolitionists. History is a complicated thing. One that's good to learn from. Brigham Young lived from 1801-1877. That's who I was talking...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

When Christ lived on this earth for 33 years, he had a body like ours-- it got sick, fumbled, etc. Then He was resurrected with a body different than ours -- a perfected one -- doesn't grow hungry or get tired or have any of the short comings ours do. LDS believe that the Father likewise as...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

There are two different documents that are getting mixed up here. 1) "The Articles of Faith" which is 13 points of the faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. More or less a one page summery of the faith. They are considered also considered to be scripture. Link here...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

The Book of Abraham is part of the Pearl of Great Price, not the Book of Mormon. Text here if you're interested Abraham On a quick glance of this link I'm not even sure what it claims to be quoting.

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

See post #91. That's an correctly reported quote. The Book of Mormon's focus is very much on talking about Christ. It doesn't mean that it's "above" any other book, just that it directly teaches that subject directly. Similar to how the OT does teach about Christ, but the NT is more direct...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

This question has a lot of nuance in it to adequately answer it, so I'm making it it's own post. I'll start with the big picture then come back and hit each little question. Obviously these are my views and I acknowledge and respect other people have different views. God Himself is the...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

*Thumbs up* Again, I'm going keep my comments here brief, but will be happy to elaborate on any point. This is a good quote. Putting things in big/comparative picture here. LDS and mainstream Christians both believe that God the Son has a body and spirit that inhabits that body. LDS and...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

@Blueberry you highlighted some of your list, so I'll go address those points in brief, just cause I'm guessing you don't want to read a book here. If you want elaboration on any point, or the way in which the crap website is misrepresenting things (like talking about actual things in context)...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

@Blueberry , I don't doubt your intentions here at all. I like you. But the website(s) your looking at is downright crap and lying to you. Again, "Journal of Discourses" isn't even an LDS doctrinal source. This list (below) is... frankly complete bunk in a whole number of colorful ways...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

(Reordering your post to make this reply simpler, hope you don't mind) (See my previous post on how "Journal of Discourses" isn't a source of LDS doctrine) The following are actually Mormon beliefs-- True, in fact we talked about this early this thread. The following are myths and are not...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

As I said at the beginning of this thread there are a TON of myths out there about what LDS believe. Some of these are even found on other Christians denominational pages. My advice: if you want to know what a Baptist believes, ask a Baptist. A Catholic or Catholic website, while they may (or...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

My view: Temporary spirit paradise does still exist, and will until after Christ's return, the Millennium, and Final Judgement. After the Final Judgement, believers in Christ go to a eternal place of ridiculous-mind-blowing-happiencess with God. LDS views of after-death events are not your...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

All faiths I've studied in Christendom, even Christendom broadly defined, believe that it's Christ and His sacrifice are what save us. There is some variance on the steps involved there, like if a person believes in OSAS, or if a believer should make certain promises to God, wether salvation is...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

Which verse are you referring to so I can address that one specifically? God is Perfect: perfect justice, mercy, will, love, knowledge, power, etc. We are all FAR from that! (Understatement of the century). Yes, though interpretations may vary compared to a Catholic's, or Baptist's, or...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

That's why I started this thread :) Temporary prison until they accept Christ or the Final Judgement. The Lord's Supper is symbolic. Partaking in it is for remembrance of Him and we recommit/renew our promises with Him. Through Christ. A person must accept Him, His forgiveness, and His ways.
