    Why Baptize a Baby?

Have I been disrespectful of you?

    Why Baptize a Baby?

BoL comments like this^ destroy civil conversation. Let us be respectful of other people on this board, even those that disagree with us.

    Why Baptize a Baby?

You will find few outside of Catholicism that will agree with that statement. You will find other people (such as myself) who believe that being baptism is requirement of believers and part of the believing. But I do not believe that the act itself has any saving power without faith.

    Why Baptize a Baby?

(missed this earlier) The key is respect. Let us skip the anti-Catholic snide comments, and the anti-Protestant ones, and the anti-____. Instead, let people speak their own beliefs and civilly respect them/their beliefs, even when we passionately disagree on things.

    Why Baptize a Baby?

Thank you. :) Just trying to explain different perspectives on this board.

    Why Baptize a Baby?

Thank you. That's all I was asking for. I do agree that 100% that sola scriptura is insufficient. How, I disagree on who's the other authority to be involved (as do all non-Catholics on here). Again, I'm just trying to explain different perspectives here, not looking to get agreement.

    Why Baptize a Baby?

That it's the exact same -- copy/paste. In this case, what is not the exact same is the convent being entered into and how that entrance happens. And you had to be a genetically a Jewish person. We'e already agreee that this argument isn't properly settled by sola scriptura alone. Now, can...

    Why Baptize a Baby?

But is that a copy/paste version or is there something different? For example, i believe that yes baptism is the replacement for circumcision, but it is NOT a copy/paste replacement. Because in the OT, being a person of the covenant was just a matter of genetics: did you happen to have...

    Why Baptize a Baby?

BoL, you're making the assumption that other Christians view baptism as a copy/paste version of OT circumcision. That assumption simply doesn't hold throughout Christiandom, hence the argument goes no where. Once again, the big foundational question is *why* should a person be baptized in the...

    Why Baptize a Baby?

My beliefs-- A believer accepts Christ and is baptized as He commanded. This baptism is a covenant wherein the person taking on His name: all to that old person's previous sins/junk being washed away / dying, and the new disciple of Christ being reborn. I don't believe in the Original Sin...

    Why Baptize a Baby?

Hi Mary, Again the foundational question here is "why is any person baptized and what does that baptism accomplish", and then rest of the debated questions are built on that. Since this is a question that cannot be adequately answered with the Bible alone, we're left with his vs her...

    Why Baptize a Baby?

I do very much agree that this is a topic that the Bible alone doesn't cover pointedly to quell the long discussions on the matter, instead we're left with the dueling interpretations scenario. Part of the reason I'm not sola scriptura. Now, I'm not Catholic and have differently beliefs on...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

Thumbs up for some great Bible verses! I'm totally with you on the importance of listening the God, the Bible, baptism by water, and baptism by the Spirit/fire, being born again, etc. The one thing I do disagree on with you is the anti-social component. God gives us His words in scripture...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

I've long ago realized that some people believe that belonging to group X is enough to automatically qualify or disqualify you from being a disciple of God. I don't remotely share this viewpoint, and passionately disagree with it. But still, there's nothing I can do to change other people's...

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

As I said earlier, Galatians 1 is one of my favorite chapters in scripture and a big part of the reason my faith is what it is today :)

What I actually believe -- sharing love of Christ

Hi @Frank Lee ! I have very much enjoyed your posts about Christ here and rattlesnakes too. All people are sinners. And over the centuries even Christians have committed many horrors- even murdering millions. It is absolutely inexcusably tragic. But being a Christian of any type is not...

    Why Baptize a Baby?

Christianity is a place with a lot of different believes. Baptism is one of those diverse topics. The big foundational question is: *why* should a person be baptized? Some people believe that baptism is to wash away the results Adam's actions. Some people believe that baptism is to wash away...

@101G , I have politely said "no thank you" to this conversation 3 times already. Please stop trying to force the issue.
