I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

Didn't I say we are to obey God rather than Government if they tell us "sin"? I think you must be misinterpreting that verse--did Jesus "give way" by obeying God and dying? Context was a condemnation of immorality. 1. That was an earthly Theocratic government. We don't live in that type of...

    They're called Preterists.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

    1. "Soon" is relative. With God, 1,000 years is as a single day according to Scripture. 2. Some interpret that literally, believing it referred to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70AD.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

    1. For clarification, the point of Christianity isn't just "go die". 2. You are criticizing the Apostles as "mistaken" for having been martyred? Yeah, you've got nothing to say to me on this.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

Imagine how much more we would glorify God if we would trust Him instead of "relying on our own understanding". "We'd have nothing" : better than gaining the world and losing our souls.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

We obey God. God : "Submit to Government--unless they say to sin." "...how difficult is that concept for you to understand?"

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

Recall that this was in contradistinction to His having previously sent them to Israel "alone", and "not the way of the Gentiles", but that He was now going to be sending them into "all the nations" (Gentiles). For what? To "make disciples"--preach the Gospel. Maybe they needed to hack brambles...

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

Caesar was a devil, but the Apostles submitted as long as he didn't command them to sin. If God's aim was to have people rebel against Government, Daniel couldn't have become a Government official. Clearly, God wants us to be orderly and to glorify Him by being submissive not rebellious.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

Peter hadn't even been baptized into Christ or received the Holy Spirit at that point. He was bound to err. Don't make the mistake of misrepresenting pre-salvation Peter as post-salvation Peter. 1. I don't know. To hack at brambles when they went to preach the Gospel? 2. We know historically...

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

    1. Irrespectively... it is also submission to Government. 2. What does "there ya go" mean? We obey God. Is that a "revelation"?

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

I stand corrected. When you do not steal from a store you're submitting to the Government. Which question? Abortion? The question was without warrant in the first place--I'd already said we obey God if Government demands we sin.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

    1. Wasn't trying to "accuse" anyone, just pointing out what is being done. 2. "What went on" was they were martyred--and Jesus (martyred) says not to repay evil for evil but turn the other cheek. 3. Peter erred, according to Christ, when he attacked the servant in the Garden. 4. Fundamentalist =...

    Bible alone

Sorry that you chose not to read and thus misunderstood. That has got nothing to do with me.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

The form of Government we have is unique in history. We have "representative self-government"--a Democratic Republic. We The People are the Government, and our Representatives establish our laws. How is it "rebellion" to follow the rules and demand righteous laws? Also, again, when ever the...

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

When you stop at a red light, you are obeying the government--and that government is run by Harris-Biden. Granted, they're in there illegitimately, but that doesn't change the fact that you're submitting to them.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

If we reject the example of Jesus and His Apostles, which religion do we belong to?
  17. GracePeace

    Bible alone

Not the topic. There are an infinite number of threads where that is discussed.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

Except John, the 12 Apostles were executed--none asked for an armed revolt, so the swords weren't for fighting.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

If they tell us to disobey God directly then we submit to God and rebel against them. Otherwise, we are supposed to submit.

I'm Pretty Sure That Jesus Wasn't Talking About This

    1. Out of context? How so? 2. A Government is Its laws--rebellion against law is rebellion against Government. 3. You're already submitting to Harris-Biden when you stop at a red light.
