What is : The Meat of the word

The water is in the context of the verse (verse 20), "saved by water"

What is : The Meat of the word

Peter wrote 1 Peter many years after he spoke with Paul, as Paul speaks of in Galatians. And he says in 1 Peter 3:20-21, that water baptism doth also now save us. I am not necessarily teaching that a person cannot be saved apart from water baptism. I am saying that there is power to save in...

What is : The Meat of the word

Is that what Peter too said? 1Pe 3:20, Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1Pe 3:21, The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us...

What is : The Meat of the word

God has written the LAW on the hearts and minds of New Covenant believers who are under the New Covenant (Hebrews 8:8-10, Hebrews 10:16, Romans 8:7, Romans 8:4, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6, Romans 13:8-10; Romans 5:5). Christ fulfills the law for us in this: Gal 2:20, I am crucified with Christ...

What is : The Meat of the word

The blood is in the water. 1Jo 5:8, And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, <even> the water, <even> the blood: and these three agree in one.

What is : The Meat of the word

So, you're saying that Peter didn't have the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in his behaviour...?

What is : The Meat of the word

One can merely believe and they "should not perish" (John 3:16). If they believe and are baptized they "shall be saved" (Mark 16:16). If they call on the name of the Lord they "shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

What is : The Meat of the word

I would suggest meditating on how Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39 and Romans 8:30 correlate to each other as concerning the word "call", "called".

What is : The Meat of the word

I will only say that being born again will lead to doing all of that good stuff... For the fruit of the Spirit, is, among other things, goodness (Galatians 5:22-23).

What is : The Meat of the word

No; because I am not a Catholic; new or old. I have addressed this elsewhere but I can address it again here. In context of Paul saying that Christ did not send him to baptize, he says that he baptized only a few people in Corinth in order to substantiate his point (Crispus, Gaius, and...

What is : The Meat of the word

I do believe that these are opposite sides of the same coin.

What is : The Meat of the word

We who have the gift of tongues know that this gift is what helps us to "keep ourselves in the love of God" (Jude 1:20-21). So, those without this gift are going to have a harder time doing so. It still, can be done, without the gift. Just not as easily.

What is : The Meat of the word

Genuinely believing in Jesus will result in a man doing the will of the Father...which is that he be sanctified...that he abstain from fornication.
  15. J

What is : The Meat of the word

No, we were talking about what is the will of God, in context with Matthew 7:21.

What is : The Meat of the word

lol...that is not what I said. Of course you must be born again to be able to do God's works of righteousness, even as He is righteous. It is a matter of walking not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4).

What is : The Meat of the word

In the kjv: Jhn 3:5, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

What is : The Meat of the word

1Th 4:3, For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: 1Th 4:4, That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 1Th 4:5, Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: 1Th...

What is : The Meat of the word

Of course it is God's righteousness. It is not impractical according to 1 John 3:7, Romans 5:19, Matthew 5:6.
