Christians Must Serve by the Law

Read 1 Corinthians 9:19-22 and show me where I am getting him wrong. Start another thread because we're getting off topic.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

To the Jew he became as a Jew--he presented as if under Law in order to win those under Law He presented in a way that was not true : Paul was not under Law. We're getting off topic.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

I've already quoted him. PLEASE read! 1 Corinthians 9:19-22.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

He was being dishonest by pretending to be "under Law" wasn't he? He did this for their salvation though. This is by his own admission. Are you saying he was lying when he was admitting to lying? LOL You can't "rescue" Paul! He doesn't even need it!

Christians Must Serve by the Law

How does "Grace is God writing His laws on our hearts" align with Jeremiah 31:33? "Grace is God writing His laws on our hearts" is Jeremiah 31:33's fulfillment.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

LOL I'm just sticking as closely to the Bible as I can. Beside, how can you get more precise than my response? LOL I correct the error of mis-defining "under", thus cutting their legs out from under them.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

    It is its fulfillment.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

Yes, but he didn't sin by lying because he wasn't doing it for selfish purposes but for the enrichment/salvation of others.

That was an objection which I then responded to.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

The Law is established inasmuch as we are made righteous by grace.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

Paul "lied" in a sense to pretend he was a Jew in order to win Jews 1 Corinthians 9:19-22. Jesus said to be shrewd like serpents but harmless like doves.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

Grace is when God writes His laws on our hearts, and James calls this "the law of liberty"--you're free to do as God works in you to will and do. This makes us fulfill the 10 Commandments... but 7th Day Sabbath regarded the old creation whereas we are a new creation, and sometimes you may...

Christians Must Serve by the Law

What I'd said was a response to your purport that "Jesus already fulfilled the Law"--in fact, "we fulfill the righteous requirement of the Law" when we are under Grace--Galatians 3 isn't relevant, it agrees with me because it teaches we're not under Law just as I do.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

The Gentile was never under the Law. Romans 2 9...the Jew first and also the Greek, 10...the Jew first and also the Greek. 11For God shows no partiality. 12For all who have sinned without the law [Gentiles] will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law [Jews] will be...

Christians Must Serve by the Law

The Law is not nullified by faith, but established by faith Romans 3:31; we fulfill the righteous requirement of the Law when we are under Grace Romans 8:4.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

These are legitimate points for discussion, but really open up and stray too far from the topic of debate--ie, whether or not Christians are to serve by Law.
  17. GracePeace

Christians Must Serve by the Law

Not to be contrary, but... 1. My main intent was really was to argue against the idea that ANY Christians were under Law; I respond to the objection that "You think you can just live in sin!?" by clarifying that Grace makes us righteous. 2. I thought the Law really was punitive not only...

My avatar is from a movie. Those who know the movie will know the scene deals with the idea "reckoning"--discussions involve "reckonings".

Who was trying to steal Israel's identity and blessings? It might work better to just cite the parts of the OP you disagree with so that we're on the same page.

Christians Must Serve by the Law

All right. Per the OP, there're some proponents of Law (ie, "Judaizers) who'll argue that. I wasn't sure if you were one of them at first, but then drew it out to make the point.
