Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Just giving you an example. and yet you always chime in on my conversations with others. Honestly, you do it to yourself. Incorrect. He was giving me his reasoning prior to applying premil:

A Biblical Lesson on Spiritual Discernment

Luke 21:20 has a different word, which is not defined as figurative for legions of spiritual beings. it’s define soldiers in a camp : STRONGS NT 4760: στρατόπεδον The answer is related to the disciples’ questions about the literal temple buildings, the ones in front of them, being destroyed.

A Biblical Lesson on Spiritual Discernment

Be careful of the etymological fallacy. The meaning of a word is determined by its usage in context, not simply by the meaning of its root. The word in Luke 21:20 is: STRONGS NT 4760: στρατόπεδον στρατόπεδον, στρατοπεδονου, τό(στρατός, and πέδον a plain), from Herodotus down; a. a military...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

I can absolutely admit that I’m not the clearest sometimes. But You literally misspoke in another thread which lead to more confusion here. And you literally keep trying to argue about interpretation, when I’ve repeatedly said I’m talking about prior to interpretation So pull the plank out...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Well thats what I was talking to Davidpt about. So why would you chime in, change it something else and then continue to be confused? That’s absurd lol. I’m talking about the chronology of the visions as written by John, prior to interpreting them. So what? So… My entire argument/discussion...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

You said it can reset the time line in revelation 20:1 without further clarification on that. But good, I think we are in the same page. It likely doesn’t without further contextual indication. It’s nice to be on the same page. You are again applying external framework. I’m talking about...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

The phrase “and I saw” is never the SOLE indicator that a recapitulation has taken place. You also need surrounding contextual clues determine if recapitulation is happening. That’s what I’m saying. What other internal contextual clues are you using to determine recapitulation in chapter 20...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

I don’t think your argument is far-fetched, but I also don’t think it is the most compelling reading of the passage. When the sixth seal is opened, the text says the great DAY of wrath “has come.” The verb is in the aorist indicative, which presents the arrival of the DAY as a decisive...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

This is an interesting way to look at it - life and death cycles. I’ll have to look more into it. Right now, my best guesswork is on 2 main anchor points - judgement of the dead in revelation 11 and 20. Maybe there are smaller ones within those chapters?

This doesn’t address whether revelation 20 starts a recapitulation or if it’s the chronological event after chapter 19.

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Since the gospels and epistles are silent on any order of “seals”, “trumpets”, “vials”, “beasts”, “harlots”, “1000 year reigns”, etc.. any such attempt to fit these events would simply seem like guesswork. Your argument seems to be that revelation 8:2 is a recapitulation, and does not...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Understanding a passage’s literary genre is an important part of proper exegesis, not a shift. Revelation is classified as “apocalyptic”. That is important for proper exegesis. Additionally, Your question has nothing to do my premise - how do we determine when a vision in revelation is a...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

I think it could be alluding to it, yea. But remember, Revelation is apocalyptic literature. You can read its chronology in a literal way, but you don’t have to interpret its chronology as literal. Attempting to shoe horn its literal chronology into the eschatological chronology provided by...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Well, revelation is first century apocalyptic literature. You can read the apocalyptic text in its literal chronological sequence, but that doesn’t mean it is required to be “interpreted” in the exact same literal chronological sequence.

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Again, my argument is about determining the chronology of events as presented by the book revelation BEFORE applying external framework or theological interpretation. Your attempt to sequence revelation by fitting it with your interpretation of Daniel (external framework), doesn’t really...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

I guess I’m not understanding your position as to why the 7 trumpets and 3 woes don’t occur chronologically post the opening of the 7 seals, when revelation 8:1-2 states the trumpets are given to the angels when the 7th seal is opened?

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

because the 7 angels are not given the 7 trumpets until the 7th seal is opened. 1When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

If Revelation 19 and 20 are merely parallel accounts of the same event, the text raises several problems. First, they don’t actually describe the same battle. Revelation 19 features the beast, the false prophet, and the kings of the earth gathered against Christ. Christ destroys His enemies...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

My entire premise is this: How do we determine that Revelation is recapitulating before applying an external interpretive framework? As we’ve already established, the phrase “and I saw” does not, by itself, indicate that John has started a new recapitulation. So by what textual criterion do we...

Both Pretribbers and Preterists are clearly wrong that great tribulation begins with the DOTL.

Im saying “and I saw” doesn’t necessarily indicate a reset of the timeline. In other words, revelation 8:2 is chronologically following 8:1 within the series of visions - when the 7th seal is opened, there is silence for half an hour, 7 angels are given 7 trumpets, and an angel throws incense...
