Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

Yet Jesus Himself said: “17 “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 “No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”” (Joh 10:17-18...

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

So how can he prophecy have been fulfilled, as Matthew 1 says it was, if Jesus was not called Immanuel?

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

Matthew says The Lord did: “22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”” (Mt 1:22-23 NKJV)

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

It is not complicated, but you still haven't explained why you apparently believe that God the Father gave God the Son a pathetic name.

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

So are you saying that you believe that God the Father gave His Son a pathetic name? Matthew wrote: “22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His...

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

I didn't mention "Onoma". I was asking why "Immanuel" according to you, would be a pathetic name.

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

I am no expert on Hebrew names, but surely many of them are not nouns. I think of the names given to God in the bible, like Jehovah Jireh (The Lord will provide) and Jehovah Rapha (The Lord that Heals). Yes, "Lord" is a noun, but "provide" and "heals" are verbs. I still don't understand why...

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

Yes, I said that in my post. What I am asking is why you think it would be a pathetic Hebrew name.

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

Why pathetic? Immanuel means "God with us," as the verse from Matthew you quoted says. Immanuel or Emanuel seems to be common name among Jews. I remember a famous violinist, for instance, whose name was Emanuel Hurwitz.

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Sorry - where did I mention works without faith?

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Works have more merit than faith? Not according to Ephesians 2: “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Eph 2:8-9 NKJV) The next verse says thatwe are saved in order to do good works...

Do "Lord and Savior" titles go on forever, even into the next glorified life?

I would say that Christians in the glorified life are there only because they have been saved. Even though their salvation was in the past, Jesus can still rightly be referred to as their Saviour, because He is the One Who saved them. He will certainly still be Lord. So I would say that...

    The Blank Canvas, Completed

Where do you get the notion of God's Creation being a cosmic temple, a phrase which you used several times? Just wondering.

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

I think that the way many people use the term "Christian" these days, it has lost much of its meaning. We sometimes hear on news broadcasts reference to the "Christian militia", or a political party known as the "Christian Democrats", for instance, but there seems little connection between such...

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

Whether technically or any other way, there is only one God, consisting of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. A person who denies the deity of Christ or the Holy Spirit could identify themselves as a Christian, but God Himself is the only one Who can truly and definitely know whether somebody is a...

Can One Be Christian and Not Believe In The Trinity?

Where does the bible say that there are three Gods? John's gospel opens with that well-known passage about "the Word", which John explains became flesh, and dwelt among them, so the Word is Jesus Christ. That passages says that the Word was in the beginning with God, and the Word was God, not...

So Joseph married Mary but didn’t have sex?

    Sorry for misunderstanding, then.

So Joseph married Mary but didn’t have sex?

Sorry, but where in the bible are we told that Joseph's flesh was already corrupted: his fat and his skin were no longer young?

    God is Perfect

Yes, it reminds me of Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Ro 8:28 NKJV)

    Biblical Cosmology

Where does Genesis 1 say that upon the light of the day He also put the sun, or that upon the darkness of the night He put the moon and the stars? It's not in verses 14-17, which I quoted. Here they are again: “14 ¶ Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide...
