Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

God gives us His joy, comfort, and encouragement when in His wisdom He knows we need it.....and not in such great measure that it spoils us. We can have songs in the night. But we are not here to feel good. Jesus is thoroughly winnowing His threshing floor.....being threshed doesnt' feel so...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Such a big subject, and I'm not sure I'm up to it. All I can say is that no true doctrine is going to take away the foundation and destroy anyone's faith in it........we must not be moved off the foundation........though we must grow up from it, because the foundation is just the beginning...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

They would be the best examples and I'd expect they would likely be the best teachers, though not infallible surely. When we are "children" we rely more on our spiritual "parents" to feed us, but when we start growing, leaving the first principles and going on to perfection, the Lord takes over...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Do you not believe that our new man is holy...?..since it is created in the image of He who created it? I consider that it is not merely positional but is something more profoundly true. But we need to learn to walk in our new man. The sufferings/chastisements that we go through are to weaken...

Doctrine is important though.....to light the way. There is power in the word. Wrong doctrine can lead in a wrong direction.

Because they could receive HIM more readily than those old covenant religious ones who thought they were already righteous with their own righteousness.

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

I'm not convinced that even the most mature and holy saint will understand every jot and tittle of scripture correctly. I believe their testimonies, but consider that their doctrines always need to be examined/ tested. Unless there is a point at which growing and learning ever ceases in this life.

But that works both ways, true? People can appear to be righteous outwardly, but meanwhile only God sees that they really are not. We may want righteous seeming pagan believers to be saved apart from knowing Christ, because they appear outwardly to be "good" people who have suffered a lot in...

Amen. The part of the Mark 4 verse that I underlined was to show the concept of different phases of growth until the ear was fully ripe. The fruit can be seen/discerned, but the process itself is not visible as such.......I think that is what is meant by "he knoweth not how". We go through...

Growth and increase and maturing of the fruit......process of sanctification, as I understand it. God's work in our lives as well as our part in submitting to His work and seeking to grow - like the growth and ripening of fruit to its peak of perfection. Fruits include good works as well as...

Amen to that (though I am just rejoining the conversation after an internet outage and don't know what the argument is about).

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Like it repeats the same thing using a different word.? Is that the term for it?....in this case I think the unjust and filthy mean the same thing...unredeemed fallen man. And the righteous (just) and holy (clean, not filthy) mean the same thing too...the redeemed. But maybe there is another...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Amen! Yes, and funny you should say that.....at one time I was going down that road for a while, trying it on for size..........and found myself lonely for Jesus, I was missing Him, because He wasnt' there. And people in that group were just like talking heads sitting around trying to impress...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Who are the filthy? Simply fallen unredeemed man from what I could find, in case it helps here: Job 15:16 How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water? Psa 14:3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Episkopos believes that those who don't know Jesus are saved if they live "righteously", even if they worship idols due to their ignorance of who God is and haven't had a chance to hear the gospel. (And he is free to clarify if anything is being misunderstood here.) I didn't know worshiping...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

I am very careful lest men lie to me sister. "That man" believes that idol worshipers will be accepted by God because they really are trying to worship Him without knowing it. Do you think that's right? I wonder what would have happened to him if he tried that one on Paul?

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Jesus was found in the form of a man..........begotten of God and without sin. Unlike us mere humans who were conceived in sin and certainly not without sin.

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

So receiving Christ and having your life turned around means one is a "modern churchy people"? The bible says there is no one righteous. And this: Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

Are you saying we should go about seeking to establish our own righteousness? That is the old covenant. When I came to faith, Jesus turned my life around 180 degrees in an instant and put me on the path of righteousness. Not perfectly, not in every way, but in an overall way and in some very...

He was never at any point JUST a man though, was He? Otherwise God could have chosen any old covenant keeping human to be Messiah.
