Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

I'm not dispensationalist. I think I fall into the partial preterist range. It is God who raises and lowers kings and kingdoms, as the Psalms say and as Nebuchadnezzar had to learn the hard way. If we truly believe what God's word says about that, we should accept that modern day Israel...

Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

I can't contribute much to this topic, but there apparently were communities of the house of Israel in Jesus' time who were not assimilated.....He went to preach to them north of Israel and sent His disciples to them as well. (see the context of Matt. 10:6 and 15:24) But also whoever existed...

Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

The scripture I referenced sounds like a balancing act, so maybe I'm not too far off course....."they are enemies for the gospel's sake, but loved on account of the patriarchs." I wasn't accusing you of anything, only reminding us all of what Jesus said about loving our enemies. Regarding your...

Does the "husband of one wife" requirement mean that polygamy was common in the early church?

1Co 10:19-22 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink...

Now that makes me wonder if you ask Muslims the same thing....that maybe they are putting their faith in the devil rather than in the one true God?

I don't know if the name they chose for their country signals anything nefarious or not. The whole nation was called Israel before they were divided, and even Paul calls the nation "Israel after the flesh". But maybe you know more about what was behind their choice than I do. What bothers me...

Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

ok, I'll try to clarify myself. Paul was expressing his deep love and care for his people, that they might be saved, in spite of their faults. I consider modern Israelis to be mostly descendants of Abraham, as far as I know and can tell....so I believe God's love for them through the...

Never thought you were sniffing paint brother, good golly, and don't know what gave you that idea. We do want to guard against an "aha!" attitude at times though. I'm sure you get around to more threads and read many more posts than I do these days and I can only go by what posts I have read...

Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

I don't know if God is explicitly regathering Jewish people to the land of Israel or if it His permissive will, so to speak. He is watching over His word to perform it.....sometimes that is by His explicit intervention, other times it is God allowing things in His sovereignty and...

Does the "husband of one wife" requirement mean that polygamy was common in the early church?

In asking/saying, "Why do you call me good, there is none good but the Father", He was hinting that He was God. Because Jesus certainly was good, wasn't He?

I think God knows who they are. The Jews stuck together in the diaspora for the most part, because of not being particularly welcomed wherever they went, including periodic persecutions.

Does the "husband of one wife" requirement mean that polygamy was common in the early church?

Salvation is about the saving of the soul/body. Jesus said to fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in Gehenna (lake of fire). The spirit returns to God who gave it. As I understand this, for the inheritors of eternal life their spirit returns to their body in the resurrection. For...

Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.

Just as long as we don't forget that they are loved on account of the patriarchs and that Paul himself could have wished himself accursed that his countrymen might be saved. It also helps to know that Gentiles wouldn't have done any better if we had been in their shoes....the whole point was to...

Does the "husband of one wife" requirement mean that polygamy was common in the early church?

I guess you are partly right, Jesus’ death on the cross was to show/demonstrate His love for us. And He did die…..at least His body did. For without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. This was always God’s plan and foreknowledge…..He knowingly ordained a Law that no man could...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

We are "elect according to the foreknowledge of God"........He foreknows us....as I understand it, He foreknows who will accept Him and who will not. On two separate occasions I could see the Lord was drawing two people that I know, a few years ago, my two sisters. There were even tears as we...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

I think the Lord meets us where we are in our helplessness.....in answer to a heart that is seeking Him. And it starts to seek Him because at some point somehow He begins to draw the person, as the scripture says.

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

People can use the same words but not mean quite the same thing by it.....the devil uses scripture and so do we, but that doesn't mean we and the devil are on the same page with it. What I mean by railing there is harping and focusing on, but I am not sure if that is the official definition...I...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

Neither grace, nor salvation, nor faith are of ourselves....they are all the gift of God. I knew when I was saved that the faith to believe/accept Christ was not of me, well before I knew about that verse. My faith was a miracle of His grace......I went in not believing and inexplicably walked...

Is your faith defined by what you DON'T believe? - The anti-doctrinal stance

Brother, unfortunately I see a lot of believers who are guilty of the "lightness" and taking Him "lightly" that God speaks against in His word. They remind me of the Corinthians who were even taking pride in their self-righteous tolerance of the sin in their camp, that Paul had to correct. Kind...
