Bibliolatry: Worship/knowledge of the book MORE than the author

In the beginning was the word, and the word was made paper, and printed among us? No... doesn't seem quite right.

    New to Apologetics

Howdy. My best advice is "don't start on Apologetics unless you need to." That's just looking for a fight. Apologetics isn't for beginners. It's for those who have obtained mastery and can defend their positions against criticism. Generally, one doesn't go looking for it... it just becomes...

Does Christ repeat the Sabbath commandment?

Yes. That's why I referred to "modern Pharisees" in my prior post.

Does Christ repeat the Sabbath commandment?

"Required" and "observe" are not words that I would typically associate with getting a day off from work. I would claim that we "get" to "rest" a day each week. Two days, for most of us, although one of them is often consumed with yard work. If I don't adopt erroneous...

    Pre-trib rapture!

The operative words here being "to them." They were meant to "comfort themselves" with "these words" in the dark days that were ahead for them. Dark days. Not something to look forward to...

Does Christ repeat the Sabbath commandment?

Why are you asking me to defend a claim that I didn't make? Maybe read my post all the way to the end...

    Pre-trib rapture!

I hadn't realized that you were part of the Thessalonian church. How'd you get internet in the 1st century?

Does Christ repeat the Sabbath commandment?

Yes, He addresses it. In a short passage in Mark 2, an accusation was made against His disciples regarding breaking the Sabbath. Jesus judgment in the matter was - The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. To summarize...

    Pre-trib rapture!

All true. What the OT tells us repeatedly is that the Day of the Lord is not something to look forward to... the Lord comes to lay a smack down on the not-so-faithful.

    Pre-trib rapture!

Not at all. No eschatological position is well-enough explained in the Bible for anyone to really get dogmatic about it. That said... pre-trib theology gets ruled-out pretty quickly by anyone who reads the Old Testament with comprehension.

    Jesus's "siblings"

You might as well say... I understand that repetition is a good method of persuasion, but it's lousy for conversation. /unfollowed

    Jesus's "siblings"

The issue here is that you're trying to put a difference between "half-brothers" and "cousins," while the culture at the time made no such distinction. The term "brethren" includes full brothers, half-brothers, step-brothers, cousins, double cousins, anyone adopted by your parents or uncles...

    Jesus's "siblings"

+1 I found an interesting point in paragraph 2... skimmed the references in the 1st post... and didn't touch the other 2 posts. The world today doesn't have the attention span for this kind of writing. We might be poorer for it, but effective communication must be concise.

    Pre-trib rapture!

A Pre-trib rapture? Tell me you haven't understood the Bible without actually saying so.

Did Jesus claim to be God?

Can do. First, some historical context... One of the important questions within Judaism is the question of how to reckon "who is a Jew?" This question was a subject of debate in Jesus day and also afterwards. From Old Testament times, heredity was reckoned in terms of paternity. Abraham...

Did Jesus claim to be God?

Yes it does: Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM. (John 8:56-58)

Were We Alive In Heaven Before We Were Born?

Technical difficulties. I didn't know the post had gone through... deleting blank post.

Were We Alive In Heaven Before We Were Born?

In that verse that says the LIFE is in the blood.... the word used there (nephesh) is elsewhere translated as SOUL. So... The Soul... is in the blood? I mean... yeah kind of... the oxygen does get carried by the red blood cells... I suppose.
