    Why do we need priests?

It is striking how many "facts" have developed from people reading a word or two in the Bible, and then building on that to invent some of the most "remarkable" fabrications. If I am not mistaken (and I could be) I think the Mormons built the whole idea of many Gods from one small statement in...

    Why do we need priests?

BTW, "Purgatory" is nowhere in the Bible. All that exists is the idea of "purging" us, here on Earth, of sinful things. It was Augustine who officially invented the concept of a stopping-off, holding area before arrival in Heaven so that people could be made good enough to enter Heaven...

    Why do we need priests?

I might even take this a step further. While I can understand the reasons, even "need" for a congregational head and teacher..…. What in the world kind of "need" are we feeding by the exaggerated garb most of the people who occupy the pulpit (or, indeed, ANY position forward of those little...

    Fasting

I think Stan was simply engaging in a little humor..... :D

He'll probably just let people read your continuing posts, and decide for themselves...…. and they will.

Well, THAT lasted for one post. LOL (Seems someone else is the one who has "dropped it.")

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

I'm not doubting a word you say, nor do I see it any differently. I am mainly just laughing at the blowhards who try to actually claim perfect thoughts and behavior.... as though they really do think they are somehow convincing people of their "Sainthood." It's like, "I'm now Holy and perfect...

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

I guess the skepticism is just because the only place most of us ever find "perfect" people is when we see them typing from some remote computer online. LOL It might be interesting to follow some of these "New Men" around for a week or so, and see just how perfect their lives really are.

One of you has to start acting like an adult. (That means to just drop it.) Which one of you is it going to be?

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

I apologize. I mistakenly thought I was speaking with a thinking adult.

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

I suspect we wouldn't be told to restore Brothers caught in sin with gentleness and love... if it was not anticipated that they would sin again (rather seriously, it seems) even after they had become Christians. And if you are so weak in Biblical knowledge, Stan, that you require Chapter and...

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

Only if you consider yourself one of those here saying that once a person gets wet, they are going to be perfect. (Peter sure did well in that respect while he listened to the cock crow.)

Excerpts from the Institutes # 1

Some online reviews: The theologian John Frame gave The Institutes of Biblical Law a mixed review in Westminster Theological Journal, writing that the book convinced him that "Rushdoony is one of the most important Christian social critics alive today", but also criticizing it on various...

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

God help the poor people who are only mortal who come across you pious Pharisees, and have to hear your condemnation of them for not being perfect. No wonder Jesus told those other Pharisees that the Tax Collectors and Prostitutes would be entering the Kingdom before they would.

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

It was hard to narrow down this list, but here are my favorite Bob Goff quotes that will change the way you live. 1. “I used to be afraid of failing at something that really mattered to me, but now I'm more afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter." 2. “I used to want to fix people...

The Metaphoric Explanation of the Holy Bible – Discovering True Christianity

I think most of "missing" what the Bible intends, comes mainly from us not using the brains God gave us.

No Heaven if you don't mortify the deeds of the flesh

The sad danger in this kind of "preaching" is the discouragement heaped upon many Christians who might actually come to believe that they are already to be Perfect, instead of being perfected. (There is not a soul on the face of this Earth who has achieved Perfection.... nor will they ever...

    Preterism the New Frontier

False? If you believe no other prophecy came true but the fact that Jesus was born to a virgin, then you are already a Partial Preterist.
