    Am I alone...............

"American Religiosity" is the institutionalized mess we have made of what Jesus originally intended to be little more than "a way of life" that led to the unity of mankind and Salvation. We have made it a mishmash of rules, regulation, and pious procedures.

The Metaphoric Explanation of the Holy Bible – Discovering True Christianity

I imagine it makes a good book, anyway LOL Kind of a difficult timetable to justify though.

    Am I alone...............

We have scads of songs (both British and American.. and even Australian) that, although I am sure the original writers never intended anything "Religious" or Christian (two opposite concepts, BTW), have a lot of Spiritual connotations in their words..... depending upon whether or not you choose...

    Am I alone...............

………… in seeing a description (and critique) of American Religiosity, literally all the way through this song? (Especially the scene with the Military Psychiatrist..... starts at about 8:30)

    Why do we need priests?

It is quite explicit throughout the Bible that we do not need some man who calls himself "Priest."

    The word, "Doctrine"

Since it has been a while since I read The Apostle's creed, I just did so again. And, "Yes", although it isn't too important to me, and I had forgotten the exact words they used, "Yes" there is much in that creed that I feel falls short of fully stating some things the way they should have been...

    mormons exposed.

It means: "If it turns out OK, then it doesn't matter what means you used to get the result." And, "No", it is not moral at all.

    The word, "Doctrine"

What are you talking about... "sloppy and reckless?" I suggested that after hundreds of years, interpretations of the meanings of long-ago written letters would be quite suspect of picking up traits of the developing religious views of the compilers of those many creeds. (And, by simply...

    The word, "Doctrine"

The main thing I take exception to with any of those three or four dozen creeds is that Jesus never developed a "creed" we were to adopt, so where did we come up with the idea that we needed to devise them? To me, this is man's intervention of trying to institutionalize what Jesus simply...

    mormons exposed.

It's pretty juvenile, shallow and not very well concealed deliberate degradation to deliberately spell Mormonism, three times, with a lower-case "m", while capitalizing Christian the same number of times. I think that was quite unnecessary.

    The word, "Doctrine"

Looking at these dates, I can't help wondering just how much got left out, or how many individual and perhaps personally biased perceived notions may have been added in, when the compliers of some hundreds of years old letters finally got around to writing a creed..... which it seems the...

How do I ignore a member here? I see no instructions how to do this...

And, you can also UNIGNORE him the same way. (Just in case you think you might want to.)

How do I ignore a member here? I see no instructions how to do this...

No, I haven't read anything you two spoke about. It is just that *Stranger* usually affects most people that way.... he sends them running to find the IGNORE Button. I think it must be "his thing", or something. LOL

How do I ignore a member here? I see no instructions how to do this...

I surmise you have met *Stranger*. LOL

    The word, "Doctrine"

MM, You seem to like to research things. I do not know this answer, but perhaps you could tell us if the timeframes of the writing of these various creeds that we attribute to men who sat at the Apostle's feet relates accurately to the life spans of both the "teachers" and the "students" who...

    The word, "Doctrine"

Fairly close. If everyone claims they are exclusively correct, is anyone?
  17. Willie T

    The word, "Doctrine"

Actually, I do. Neither you nor I were taught "doctrine" at the feet of the Apostles. We got it from men. And it was not the writings of "THE EXCLUSIVELY AUTHORIZED" Church Fathers. If that were the case, there would not be something like 43 different Creedal Doctrines adhered to, and taught...

    mormons exposed.

I don't adhere to many of the things Mormons espouse. But, I do wish more "christians" could emulate the respect and behavior of almost every Mormon I have ever met. I'm often ashamed of the way we, claiming to be Christians, attack others, instead of just stating our beliefs or preaching the...

Golly, you really may not know how to do that.

A word for the moderators of a different message board.

Amen on both CARM and CF. CF seems to have about six or eight good people, and none of them are Mods.
