    The sin of unbelief

Well thats a big example! Do you really think a beast (maybe like godzilla) is going to come out of the ocean? Yet I state what happens in chapter 20 will be literal! I see a lot of symbolism in a man-child being born out of flesh which cannot inherit the kingdom of God, yet I believe Jesus...

    The sin of unbelief

Well, thats my point. I don't think its symbolic. I think its really going to happen. I can see symbolism in it, but there is going to be a time when folks stand before God, tell Him of their works and try to justify themselves. I can see where we must do that every mortal day, and I...

    Entertained an angel

I think I have, but no.... I don't know it. Its the one reason why I am coordial and friendly to all ppeople as much as I can. I was once a heathen (not really, I was always a child if God), but there came a time when the light in me (which is Jesus) was manifested. I know there are other...

    The sin of unbelief

I don't see it as a parable, but as prohecy. A parable in my understanding is a story (an actual event or not) to illustrate a point. I think this is literally going to happen. No matter. Your point is pretty good. When Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun, and that the OT is a...

    The sin of unbelief

Interesting thought. I said that mat 7:22 was talking about the Pharisees. I was looking at the sermon in the mount as a whole. I stilk believe that he spoke about them quite a bit, but may have to rethink this part of tge sermon. Regardless, I don't see it as a verse that supports faith...

    The sin of unbelief

Yep .. Judas did succeed as much as any other disciple. I dare say he was even as dedicated at some point as the others. I might waver on that because I think Peter, John and James may have been more in the inner circle. But up to a point, Judas did every thing the others did.

    The sin of unbelief

KingJ, these people actually HAD works! They had wonderful works and they did them in the name of Jesus (that's what they will say at the white throne judgment). Its not about doing the works, its about doing the will of the Father.

    The sin of unbelief

How can anyone say that Matthew 7:22 is saying we must keep the law? Jesus is blasting the Pharisees who kept the law better than anyone! Your righteousness must EXCEED that of the Pharisees! Yet, these folks want to go back to that which the Pharisees did! But they think they can do it better...

    The law or Grace

....then realize that we are no longer that which is written in exodus 20 because we are under a new and different covenant or agreement. LOOK at exodus 20 with understanding that it was a shadow of something more glorious that we can have because one man fixed it. Look at whay THAT man said...

God’s grace, plus the believer’s part: enduring faith, works, obedience!

LOL! I have been thinking about the same verse lately as it pertains to some posts on this board! That and Matthew 5 when jesus said, "blessed are ye when nen revile you and persecute you and say all manber of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceeding glad. For so they...

    The sin of unbelief

Point 1. I gotta stand with H.richard in this. I read the OP, and it says their unbelief. In context I saw it to mean they didn't trust God. I am familiar with the story, so I got what H. Richard was saying and it wasn't "faith in faith". I suppose if you haven't read the account, you...

God’s grace, plus the believer’s part: enduring faith, works, obedience!

I want to discuss another point. I have heard too many times that without the law, we all will do terrible things. Well, they did terrible things with it! But rest assured that there is plenty to keep a Christian busy without the law of death. Jesus said come and learn of me. Seek ye...

God’s grace, plus the believer’s part: enduring faith, works, obedience!

    1. Why didn't you finish telling the story about the young rich man? That is, the part where he claimed to have kept the law from his youth, and Jesus said fine, give all you have and follow me. Keeping the law didn't help him. Yet what hurt him was not giving up his life and following...

    The law or Grace

It wasn't personal toward you, and if you took it personal I apologize. I used the term "you" once at the very end after using terms like "we" or "us" throughout the post. So, I thought by then I had established I was talking in general. But what you said is actually the point I was making...

    The law or Grace

Are you Jewish? Because when Paul said what he did in Romans 2 he was talking about Jews who didn't believe in grace through faith. These jews were sldo hypicrits who accused others of breaking the law when they weren't keeping it themselves. Is thatyou? Did you read all of romans3? It says...

    The law or Grace

Brakelite, Eph 2 says that by grace we are saved through faith (not of works). Romans 3 says in verse 20 and in 28 that we are justified by faith without the deeds of the law and that no flesh shall be justified by the law. Romans 8 is one of my favorite chapters. If you continue on from...

    The law or Grace

Not sure what you mean by that, ATP. The doctrine of grace + law or works confuses me. I don't see it as sound when I take everything in the NT in consideration. Paul fought against it as well. Good works I get. Good works are properly promoting the gospel and loving the brethren.

Paul did so much work, Do you think whether God approve of him?

Well I'll be! That dastardly Paul! Whodda thunk it? Sheesh! And to think that Jesus actually conmmissioned him and Peter accepted him as an apostle! Man, he even had God and the guy with the keys fooled!

    The law or Grace

Well your pist confuses me. If we are saved by grace, but still must keep the law, what was the point of grace? I mean, grace through faith was instituted because no one could keep the law. No one seems interested in answering my questuon about what commandments Jesus said we should keep...
