God’s grace, plus the believer’s part: enduring faith, works, obedience!

Romans 6 confuses so many people. They read, "shall we continue in sin, God forbid" and then just stop reading. They don't understand that the chapter is saying we aren't accountablr for our sins because Christ paid the price and we are looked at as dead to sins by God.

God has chosen the sinner --

Don't forget that it is the foolishness of preaching that saves. Yes, it is Christ that saves, but you have to have one who preaches Christ.

    His Fruit

Good post! I am pretty big on the importance of truth and doctrine. As for love.... I'm like Solomon: I'm sick of it! :) (yes, I do know the proper context; I'm just making a joke). The truth and doctrine of Christ is vital to salvation, but I liken it to the truth about a hot burner...

    Missing from bible

I can't remember the last time I agreed with king J in anything, but based on the post of his you cited, I don't think that is what he was doing. At best perhaps he could've worded it differently. But I agree with him on this IF I understand him correctly. Seeing someone get out of a...

I remember him! Great guy and I miss him too!

God’s grace, plus the believer’s part: enduring faith, works, obedience!

I've posed this question myself, H. Richard. By not taking the text in proper and full context I can find one instance where Jesus told someone to obey the law of Moses (the account of the rich young man....). Other than that, it comes down to believing with all your heart in Jesus and loving...

Should the poor and sick preach?

Personally, I am on the side of modesty. And at my age (and financial situation) I appreciate the virtues of investing before buying luxury. Consider the ant.... David and Solomon (especially the latter) lacked nothing and had plenty left over for farraris! David was a bit different because...

Should the poor and sick preach?

    Can you expound on this?

Should the poor and sick preach?

Iakov, you are looking at the flesh. You are judging a man by his wealth and looks. You are saying you wouldn't want to follow a man based on what he has, and I'm saying folliw him based on what he says. Is a man going to get rich preaching truth? Is a rich man capable of preaching truth...

Should the poor and sick preach?

The wealth and physical health (or lack of it) are not qualities I look for in a preacher. The qualities I look for are: 1a) is he preaching truth? 1b) is he willing to change TO the truth if he finds himself in error. 2) does he believe it? 3) does he put it in practice in his life? 4) does...

    Missing from bible

But the Lord DOES send lying spirits! So Jaybird, you are looking at energy fields, chakras, them amorites as cedars, bones raising from the dead and raising people from the dead, eastern mysticism.... overall. Let me make a blanket statement and say you are looking for magic. Bear with me in...

    Missing from bible

Belittling anyone ain't going to help your cause. Even if you do have some good points.

    Missing from bible

Jaybird, Ever read the book of Enoch? Something tells me you'd love it! I have a few comments and thoughts to give, but I'll save them for later, save one. Your comment on the many translations of the bible isn't a valid point in this topic. I don't know if it was meant to be an attack on...

    The law or Grace

Well, what's to discuss is that I have put the verses you keep repeating in context. I actually DO believe in the Bible, but more importantly, I understand it. So what I'm saying is your explanation is flat out wrong. Your answer? "There's nothing to discus because I'm right.... so you...

About Hebrews' warning: Do not draw back to perdition

I want to know why you skipped verse 24 and 25. They are important verses because they tell what willful sin he's talking about. The last verse tells us "but WE are not of them that draw back unto perdition, but of them that believe...." I absolutely believe in predestination. But there is...

    The law or Grace

I've already addressed this post. You've already posted it almost word for word. You could at least address my response. Unless of course, you aren't interested in a discussion.

    Christians and culture

Thats a partial quote. He goes onto say, "but be transformed by the renewing of your mind". He goes on to elaborate. There are other things to consider. John 17:15-16 say that jesus wasn't praying that we should be taken out of the world but overcome evil in it. Also that we are not of...

Why Iakov.... that was pretty good! That part about the barn is hilarious! My compliments on a pretty good post!
