Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

No, Paul didn't lie, you just don't understand what "salvation" is. Salvation from slavery to sin and wrath on sinners was typed by the Jews' salvation from Egypt--still, after being saved by the blood of lambs (as we're saved by the blood of the Lamb), and being "baptized into Moses" (as we...

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

The book of 1 John is laying out criteria for testing spirits (1 Jn 4:1). Specifically, the gnostic heretics taught "because the material world is inherently sinful" : 1) gnostic Christians never stop sinning, they will continue living sinfully 2) Christ didn't incarnate, because, if He had, He...

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

Walking in the Spirit is one and the same as keeping His commands : 1) believe in the name of God's Son and 2) love one another.

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

After salvation if you live in sin you will die (Ro 8:12,13; 1 Co 9:26-1 Co 10; Heb 10:38,39).

"Christ is of no avail to you" means I cannot believe what you believe--Christ only avails those who believe. TTYL

I don't accept "you have your ideas and I have mine"--I hold to Scripture, and you reject Scripture. There is no uncertainty in me about the things we have mainly discussed (except for where those who pay for their sins and finally get out of torment will go).

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

You reject Scripture. "Christ is of no avail to you" (Galatians 5:2). You apparently don't like order. Christ died for everyone, but those who do not believe are not availed anything by Christ. Anyway, I gotta get ready for dialysis.

Yes, "the righteousness of faith" is that God declares the ungodly to be in right standing because of the righteousness of being forgiven (Ro 4:6-8). That is what Paul is talking about. The same Paul goes on to speak of "footsteps of faith of Abraham", and that the believer who does not walk in...

So, you're saying you don't have answers for anything I've stated, so you're running away to another verse now, right?

Who is twisting Scripture between us? You have outright rejected it! If I say I made a buffet for EVERYONE, and ANYONE who wants to come and partake can do so, but yet people say "NO THANKS!", the buffet is still there but not EVERYONE came. This is just as Jesus taught, nothing different.

No, you're misrepresenting me. I didn't say His death wasn't "for" all people, but that it is only effective for His friends, who can be of any and all people. It's for all, and anyone can partake, but not all do--they pay for their own sins, and "Christ does not avail them anything" (Gal 5:2).

    1. "I am what I am by the grace of God" 1 Co 15. 2. I went to hell in 2003, and I was smashed into billions of pieces, because I listened to a pastor instead of listening to God, and I have been studying, looking for firm foundations, since 2009. Most answers come when you pray. We are not good...

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

My point was that you wanted to say "Christ dined with sinners" as if that could overturn the reality that He laid down life (ie, the payment for sins) only applies to His friends, because only His friends abide in Him, which means that that reality is only real for those who accept the truth...

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

    I don't believe in sinless perfectionism, but the Scripture does say... 1 Peter 4 1Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

I don't have anything to work out along these lines other than where those who pay for their own sins, instead of having Christ as the payment, will go after they "get out" since "the unrighteous will not inherit God's Kingdom".

Luke 15 is about sinners who had repented--the prodigal sons who had decided to come back home. They were "lost" and now they were "found". Christ never told people "go and sin some more" He said "Go and sin NO MORE".

Abiding In Christ Necessary for Eternal Life

Yeah, God relates to all as their Savior, and yet only the believers live in that reality. And, yes, God doesn't remember the sins of those who partake in the New Covenant. I agree. Those who do not partake, however, are under God's severity. This is not difficult to understand. It is not...
