Christians and Jews are both anti Acts 2:38.

Ephesians 2.1-7 says: "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we...

John 6.44 says: "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6.64-66 says: "But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65 And...

Faith-based tattoo: as a result of one, did you ever talk with someone? (Poll included)

@ScottA It's certainly not for everyone, but my wife and I talked to a shy young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area. I reckon she likely got a lot of joy in going to the tattoo parlor for a modestly placed Bible verse that would likely lead to conversations about Scripture.

Christians and Jews are both anti Acts 2:38.

Interesting that Peter says: "...see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Peter 1.22-23). James says: "Of his own will begat he us with the word of...

    I don’t do tattoos

@ScottA All the young people with Bible verses tattooed with whom I have spoken seem anyway to have had them done for evangelistic testimony reasons. Seems like some Christian young ppl at around 18 can't wait to get inked up with effective, witness-friendly designs.

Paul does state it strongly as being "not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2.9).

Faith-based tattoo: as a result of one, did you ever talk with someone? (Poll included)

@devin553344 Traditionally tattoos have often been military-related, right? Today, military spouses are also a demographic that tends to receive inking to some profusion, often in faith, family or patriotic themes.

Faith is obedience; Paul speaks of 'the obedience of faith' and 'obedience to the faith' at the beginning and end of Romans. Such obedience is not fleshly merit, but as led by the Spirit of God in grace.

@Titus Good verse there to remember. How we must get out there with the Gospel that ppl need! :)

    I don’t do tattoos

@ScottA I'm sure there is a lot of truth to what you say. It's interesting that some ppl see faith based tattoos as an effective witness opportunity. DaveL said:

Indeed. It's not true faith if there is no evidence. Also, Paul said: "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Romans 4.5).

@Titus: When the Lord Jesus said: "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18.3) He was referring to sinners humbling themselves in faith and trust.

    @Titus FYI....more of a trivia thread I started, I guess....

"Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2.9). "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2.10)

As per your Mark quote, baptism should accompany the experience of conversion through faith in Christ and His work at the Cross, although the waters of baptism do not actually effect the spiritual passing from death to life (1 John 3.14).

    For my job

Hi @hillary Good to see you on the forums. In your job searching situation, do make sure that daily prayer and the Scriptures are not crowded out of your important routine.

Acts 2.41 indicates that 'they that gladly believed were baptized'. They were not baptized supposedly in order to become believers. They were baptized because they already believed and wanted to show their faith by being baptized.

    Needing to Hear

@Lambano It's good to read Scripture with the attitude of Samuel: "Speak; for thy servant heareth." (1 Samuel 3.10).
