@Mantis Even as the believer can rest in the finished work of Christ at the Cross for sinners, we by His grace take up our crosses daily and follow Him. "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." (Luke 9.23)

Believers often refer to a work of grace in the heart of the sinner: so vital as the Spirit works to apply the Word of God to the heart.

The reference is possibly an oblique one to Falasha Jews from Ethiopia who went to live in Israel in the 1970s. (I recall a photo of Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin addressing them.)

It's the work of God to be drawn in faith. John 6.44 says: "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day."

It's work of God; "Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6.29).

@Lambano Hebrews 11 tells of those who were indeed justified by faith in the OT: an example to us and an encouragement for us to keep 'looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith' (Hebrews 12.2) Who endured the cross for His people and is now seated in glory.

Great verse there! sums up the Gospel.....

In our own strength we cannot hope to keep His commandments. Faith in the One Who was obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2) is what saves.

@Mantis Keep praying; when prayer and the Scriptures are at the center of what we do, then it radiates out to others in testimony; what ppl see is consistency as well as words.

@Mayflower Wonderful chapter there in Isaiah! Peter also speaks of 'the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow' (1 Peter 1.11). Philippians speaks of 'the fellowship of His sufferings' (Philippians 3.10).

@Mayflower Trusting that prayer and the Scriptures will be at the heart of what you mention. (Other influences are out there, but before the Lord, prayer, the Scriptures, fellowship, etc., are what build up spiritually in a healthy way.)

Hi @2 Chr. 34:19 May the Scriptures challenge and guide in your family situation. Remember: when someone is converted, the before/after aspect can be very significant when it comes to the effectiveness of personal testimony.
