Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

@FluffyYellowDuck I suppose an (oblique) analogy would be, if say (hypothetically) your son wore ear studs and some hypertraditionalist tried to tell him that all the women can wear earrings in church but not any men, then the idea of an earring rack for the men at the back of the church would...

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

@Mayflower Well, one year at Halloween I posted a video about carving pumpkins...(my wife's favorite flavor, by the way)...and.... Someone objected to the video about carving pumpkins because... the lady doing the carving had some tattoos.... :) (You can't win, right?)

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

That's interesting; rather like the ref.s to angels in Revelation's letters to the seven churches in Asia?

What, give you a haircut, you mean? :) (My wife did The Chop years ago, anyway...)

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

...but does this envisage the single woman coming home from her father's funeral and throwing her hat into the air and preparing a sermon for church the next Sunday, with her sidecut highlights resplendent? :) (Sorry, I have a flair for putting things a bit starkly, I suppose...)

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

Despite the apparently stated conclusion about married women, I don't see Paul referring to single women preaching in church, etc.

PS: @FluffyYellowDuck Your thread has really taken off.......:) (Reminds me of my tattoo thread....)

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

@FluffyYellowDuck Thanks for the 'like'; yes, nose studs have become soooooo mainstream that so often those that opt for them just have them clicked in and then they are virtually forgotten about, often. Re. the point someone made about the yarmulkes for Jewish men, in the OT, the situation...

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

@Lambano Yes and like you said about her subsequent commemorative ink, ↑ . I know that when I was in hospital for major surgery several years ago, I felt a closeness to the Lord which was truly memorable, with my mediation on Scripture being truly precious, by God's grace. Such a great...

Oh the Ezekiel passage is figurative...

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

I think it would be hard to argue that the supposedly "proper" thing for Christian men to do now is to go round and manhandling women who don't conform to what's "correct", in the manner of those watchmen.....

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

Do you mean a hat has to cover all the hair completely or be supposedly unScriptural? o_O

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

As regards prophesying (I don't think this is relevant after Acts...), there is also the background of the ephod worn by prophets in the OT...

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

PS: I'm not sure nose studs are even necessarily about getting married, either; the Ezekiel 16 passage seems to be more about imputed righteousness, as a background. (They obviously don't need to but, if Christian women - single or married - do want a nose stud clicked in, then it would seem...

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

I understand that some of the Hutterites think women can't go shopping without a 'head', i.e., a man going with them.....this is rather stretching what Paul actually says....

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

@FluffyYellowDuck Well, my wife did The Chop years and years ago, but hers is still relatively longer than mine, I reckon.

@Lambano So glad she's doing well now.... :)

    Secure Eternal Salvation 2

I think of Robert Murray M'Cheyne's words: "When I stand before the Throne, Dressed in beauty not my own..." I like your warning about trying to 'work their whole life at being righteous people'....

Please Argue with me about Head Coverings

@Lifelong_sinner My guess is that a prayerful couple would probably have discussed this sort of thing and come to a conclusion - and lots else, at length - and come to a conclusion one way or another before they ever tied the knot.

@FluffyYellowDuck ....and in Ezekiel 16.12 the Lord Himself is recorded as figuratively giving Zion a nose ring (in a passage reflecting the truth of imputed righteousness). Christian women don't need to get nose studs put in, but those that wish to should just quietly go for it confidently.
