@Wynona Thanks for your comment; and of course you need to follow your convictions. It's interesting that the immediate context seems to suggest pagan necromancy; and an adjacent verse seems to say about not trimming beards; do preachers shave? if they do, they are maybe making a backhanded...

Such a challenging and encouraging verse for the believer: "Isaiah 48.10: "I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction".

@Wynona I suppose that it could all be part of wider discussions about femininity such as about chewing gum and pants, etc.! According to statistics, even more women use tattoo parlors in North America than men do. (Does your dh have any fixed views on tattoos for women, maybe?)

@Truman I guess the six-pointed star would be a reference to the Magen David on the Israeli flag, right? Maybe this would get you into conversations with Jews...

@FluffyYellowDuck Technically it is, but also a rather benign one, a bit like ear piercing, and ppl wouldn't normally back off getting their ears pierced just because it is technically an injury. (Similarly with tattoos, right?)
