Where God is is light. He abides in unapproachable light. Our God is a consuming fire. We have an example of what fire does in this world. Even the Sun is a big ball of fire. Darkness is far from God. It is a place where light doesn't penetrate.

To cease from our own works...yes. When we put on Christ we do His works...speaking His words. THAT is the purpose of the Sabbath. In the past it was to be practiced one day a week...now we have a perpetual walk in the Spirit that STOPS what the flesh is doing...to do the will of God...all the time.

The Jews stumbled at the holiness of Jesus. They sought a righteousness that was without holiness. But we stumble at the righteousness of Jesus. We (too often) seek a holiness without righteousness.
