    Is smoking a sin?

@Cassanda Good that you could quit! I don't get all the guilt-manipulative legalism stuff, however. I'm reminded of Romans 14.17: "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

    A Fist Full of Doubt's

@Ziggy Oh, sometimes these family/personal reasons can be so obscure, right? but so real in some ppl's minds...though not others... Keep praying; the Lord gives wisdom...

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@Truman Well, I'm sure there is plenty of choice when it comes to parlors. The profession has opened up to women in recent decades, significantly, and some of the lady tattooists and their clients are from a completely different type of background. Moreover, some artists have a very gentle hand.

Covid-19 Vaccines: have you had a jab?

@Truman "whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. " (James 4.14)

    Is smoking a sin?

Well, okay; maybe we're not communicating so well... Thanks anyway...

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@Truman John 3.16 was the verse of choice for more than one of the young people with Bible verses tattooed that I talked to. It's easy to see why, because it contains so much truth and communicates so well. The great thing about tattoo parlors is that one can talk to the artist without...

    Is smoking a sin?

So you would have wanted Spurgeon to be excommunicated then? because he smoked....o_O

    Is smoking a sin?

This why I don't get the whole guilt manipulation thing that goes with some church 'culture'.

Covid-19 Vaccines: have you had a jab?

@Truman I understand this from a faith angle. I do also see the value of sensible health precautions.

    Is smoking a sin?

Would you have excommunicated the great preacher Spurgeon because he smoked? Would you?

    Is smoking a sin?

@robert derrick Well, exactly... Look at Spurgeon, for example; he smoked and he was a mighty servant of the Lord. No need for ppl to bear themselves up....

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@Ziggy Seems anyway like younger Christians who get faith based tattoos done have gotten naturally and happily used to the idea of witnessing this way. Like I was saying, all the young people with whom I have talked who have had Bible verses tattooed seem to have had them done for...

    A Fist Full of Doubt's

@Ziggy Sounds like you'd prefer strongly to stay where you are.... :) We don't have any animals, but I know that those who do can get very attached to them...

    Vaping problems? / benefits?

@Truman I think something similar was @Cassandra 's experience, if I'm not mistaken? With the vape you can regulate the nicotine and then gradually cut down, right? and this seems widely to be seen as advantageous...

    Is smoking a sin?

Good if ppl can quit. But I struggle with the whole legalism thing.

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@MatthewG When young men and women get to the age of 18 or thereabouts, the trip to the tattoo parlor seems really so often to be a natural event that comes around, whether or not they then move on and don't get any more, or like you perhaps do get more done. Many Christian young ppl seem to...
