    Tongues

I guess the quote is just another way for modernist religious people to say that no one speaks in tongues at all.

I found an interesting sentence in my reading of John Calvin's commentary on John's Gospel. Note that he wrote this in the 17th Century. He was commenting on when Jesus breathed on the disciples and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit." He says that the Holy Spirit comes from Jesus and only...

For those interested I have now completed my Ebook and it is attached.

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

Trouble is that the movement got corrupted by "power and control" leaders who used "spiritual authority" to gather disciples to themselves. I am in the process of writing a book called, Are You Sure Your Shepherd Is Not A Wolf In Disguise? I will publish it once my friend has proofread it.

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

Can anyone give me some background on the Accountability requirement in some churches? References in Google are hard to find.

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

A point that I want to make about Accountability. We are not required by the Lord to be accountable to anyone but Him. The Scripture says that we must all give account to the Lord. But it does not include giving account to any man or woman/ Now this does not apply to how husbands and wives...

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

I've heard of the Accountability doctrine as well. I never personally experienced it because I was away from direct involvement in a Pentecostal church since the late 1970s. I am in the process of writing a book about the Shepherding/Covering doctrine and when it is finished, proofread, and...

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

I think the church friend should get out of that church as fast as her little legs can carry her! These spiritual abusers pick on vulnerable people, especially women, who find it difficult to stand up for themselves against abuses like that. I heard the story of a victim in a Bible college...

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

Any believer who knows his or her Bible and wants to keep away from "doctrines of devils" should avoid both of those churches like the plague!

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

No. It is still around. I have a friend in Wellington who manages a ministry. He went to a local Pentecostal church with the thought of joining with them. They told him that his ministry needed to come under their covering and they will make all the decisions concerning the management of...

    The Shepherding/Covering Doctrine

The Shepherding movement was initiated in the 1970s by the "Fort Lauderdale Five" (Bob Mumford, Derek Prince, Charles Simpson, Don Basham, and Ern Baxter). It consisted of the requirement that believers should be place under a shepherd and discipled into order to come closer to God and develop...

    Question no Protestant can answer

It wasn't Peter but Philip who met the Eunuch. :)

    Question no Protestant can answer

The Eunuch knew enough about Judaism to have the book of Isaiah in his possession. It is quite possible that he was a "God fearer" and may well have been around to hear about John the Baptizer. Therefore he would have known about baptism already, allbeit John's baptism.

Yes. She was bilingual. Maori was her first language. The point that I am making is that my friend and I were praying in tongues in exactly the same way that Pentecostals and Charismatic do - with no thought of the language being understood by anyone except the Lord.

On this side of the world, the warmer weather is to the North. While living in Auckland NZ, which has a sub-tropical climate, cockroaches were common. I once had one crawl over my face while at night in bed! I used to wrap them in tissue and put them down the toilet. We have a ginger cat...

I helped my young daughter improve her talking pretty fast because I used to chat to her all the time. I remember that when my wife went to another city to visit her mother, I took my 3-1/2 year old daughter on a road trip over two or three days to explore the part of the country where we were...

When my daughter was three years old she wrote her first shopping list. It looked like random shapes and symbols to me, but she told me exactly what each shape and symbol stood for. In fact, she wrote her own understandable language - maybe not to anyone else, but certainly to her!

Just because it happened on the Day of Pentecost doesn't mean that it happened like that every time an early believer prayed or spoke in tongues.

I have a close friend who was speaking "gibberish" has you called it, in a prayer meeting, and found himself speaking in a Ghanaian visitor's own village dialect. All he was doing was speaking in tongues in exactly the same way that Pentecostals do, but on this occasion it was an understandable...
