PS: Remarkable that so many Christians now seem to come to a similar conclusion? FHII said: ↑ QueenCat said: forums dot thewelltrainedmind dot com

@Mayflower Isaiah 48.10: "I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction". In the end it's not in avoiding the furnace of affliction at all costs but in knowing deeply by faith that we are indeed chosen, that there is the blessing.

    seek peace.

@amadeus Good verse there...! :) On another thread recently we have been looking at the theme of peace also in John 14 and Philippians 4.

I like the writer of the Hebrews' exhortation to keep 'looking unto Jesus' (Hebrews 12.2); the previous chapter speaks of all sorts of upheavals in Old Testament saints' lives, but the Lord brought them through 'by faith'...

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@Mayflower Well, it's now what people do; it's a means to communicate they embrace; it's an art form they use. Many people on this site have confirmed it... Rita said: ↑ Acolyte said: ↑ UnrulyBeauty said: ↑ Clearly - one by one as individuals - a lot of Christians (of both genders) think...

@Mayflower Paul had this experience: "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."...

@Mayflower Indeed; and there is the promise of the Lord Jesus in John 16.13: "...when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come."

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@Mayflower It's closed now, but interestingly among all the respondents only 3 (10%) were hostile to tattoo art. I think it shows how much scope there is to communicate a really worthwhile message via the art form. (If this makes sense?)

@Mayflower Linking in with passages such as John 14 and Philippians 4, the words of this hymn are also apt: "1 When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, "It is well, it is well with my soul." Refrain It is well...
