Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

No one is denying the Apostles were eventually replaced. This is 100% besides the point - by definition. If you want to pretend replacements are the originals, knock yourself out.

What Order Should a New Christian Read the Bible in?

That was basically my advice also.

Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

I already explained why - multiple times. I also provided links that explain further. It is a matter of definition, that excludes all but those Jesus appointed.

Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

This is wrong. ‘The twelve’ are the individuals that Jesus chose. I already provided a reference for this. And one of the individuals Jesus chose comprising ‘the twelve’ is Judas.

    Revelation of Jesus Christ

In this post, you claimed the Father gave Jesus the Revelation. Yet, you provided no Scripture to support that claim. See what I mean about you not answering my simple question (as I asked for a verse)? BTW, my simple question does not require paragraphs of airing grievances - or whatever you...

Why Christian nationalism is pure poison for the U.S.

I completely understand. This is where the command for us to forgive comes into play. Christianity would be easy to practice, if it wasn’t for all the son-o-bitches in the world.

Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

I finally voted "yes" for the following 6 reasons. 1. Language Usage - no qualifier for the Tribes of Israel. We don't rationalize for v12 Joseph got a double share and his son's got land grants, therefore we arbitrarily exclude the lead brother who betrayed him and add Joseph's son. When we...

Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

They are certainly insufficient argument for Matthias and Paul due to the fact that the math does not add up. The Scripture verse explicitly says 12 Apostles. So, if you subtract Judas and add Matthias and Paul, you end up with 13. True but beside the point. The point is the text does not have...

Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

I think Luke did make it clear. It’s just that today we tend to complicate the simple. The 3 stooges are Moe, Larry and Curly. Any talk of a replacement Stooge, Shemp, is not what is meant by the phrase. Same with the Apostles.

Rev 21:14 Names of 12 Apostles on the Foundations?

So, what is your rational for including Matthias but excluding Paul, Barnabas and Apollos? And I suppose more significantly, what is your rational for not including Judas?

    Doctrinal Clarity or vagueness?

Re-read what I wrote. Pay specific attention to our nature pre and post birth. It is, of course, a brilliant analysis, if I don't mind saying so myself. Dual natures? When donkey's fly. See what I did there?

But if you add in these 3, it does not fit with the 12 referenced in the Revelation verse. How do you reconcile that?

    Doctrinal Clarity or vagueness?

PUL-EASE. This is a manifest artificial dichotomy. A butterfly does not have 2 natures, before and after its cocoon phase. An argument AGAINST abortion is that a human is a human from the beginning. We are not one nature before the magical-mystical moment of birth and then another nature after...

A serious questions for the Jehovah's Witnesses on these threads.

I applied your patience, as well as your thoroughness. If this thread was a serious question (about what we are not allowed to discuss anymore), I would have abandoned it long ago. The obtuse have an advantage the wise do not. Proverbs 26 (CEV): 4 Don't make a fool of yourself by answering a...

I've learned to give mystics all the credit they deserve.

What Order Should a New Christian Read the Bible in?

With two exceptions. PRAY Before each time you read, say a prayer. As God to guide you in understanding what you are reading today, to understand what he wants you to get out of it. Hebrews 4:12 says the word of God is alive. And I have found it to be true. Many have experienced reading the...

What Order Should a New Christian Read the Bible in?

The NIV is the biggest selling English translation in the world. It is a good combination of thought and literal translation. Many here have strong opinions on translations. You won't go wrong starting with the Gospels in NIV.

What Order Should a New Christian Read the Bible in?

Not at all! I am a very active reader. My Bible is filled with notes, underlined and highlights. I've even made my own table of contents, of verses that powerfully speak to me that I know I'll want to refer to time and again. It is your Bible. Although the contents are sacred your paper copy is...

    New To Christianity.

One other thing about going to church. Because my wife and I are getting on in years with some health problems, nearly half the time we take advantage of technology my church has leveraged. We watch live (and past) services on Youtube. I'm sure churches near you do the same. Not only is it more...

    New To Christianity.

It just dawned on me. In addition to finding a church, consider also finding a Bible Study program. Keep in mind, these are 2 separate choices. The best Bible study program for you may not be the best church for you to do to. You obviously are hungry to ingest the Word of God and that is a...
