I would see that the church is made up of individuals and that in John 6 clearly it is the Lord that takes the initiative: "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6.44)

So what do you think of the Ephesians 1 passage about being chosen in Christ from before the foundation of the world? do you think this is a relevant aspect to the book of life?

@soul man As @FHII said: Nowadays instead of fighting the medium so many Christians are embracing it instead and using it, often for Scripture and faith based designs that work exactly as your wife's nurse clearly felt she was taking a step of faith to do.

@Heart2Soul It's become so established and widespread now - like you pointed out - look how among health professionals, for example, it's becoming the norm - that now so many young Christians on reaching adulthood seem to want to use a wide open opportunity to use it to express their faith...

Ephesians chapters 1 and 2 - and John 6 - seem strongly to indicate that the initiative comes from Divine grace.

My wife and I talked to a young lady with the whole of John 3.16 tattooed on her wrist area; it was her favorite Bible verse and mine also and I'm sure other conversation have arisen as a result of her willingness to use the parlor for a Scripture faith inking. She actually seemed quite shy.

@Heart2Soul We can always go back and dig into the Scriptures, by God's grace...
