    John Darby

Are you thinking in terms maybe of Idaho survivalist / Waco apocalyptic theology? Just wondered. For myself, I would see Matthew 24 and Luke 21 to be about tribulation saints after the church has gone.

    Increasing depravity...a sign?

@Naomi25: I totally agree! Just consider, What would have happened to the Reformation if Luther had busied himself with commentaries on the swimwear customs of bathers in the Tiber, instead of steadfastly preaching the Word and doctrine? :)

So, were you referring to Sydney dementia or Canberra dementia? :)

Faith-based tattoo: as a result of one, did you ever talk with someone? (Poll included)

@Naomi25 What you say reflects basically what I meant (since tattoos are something that women participate in fully now). What you just said basically bears out comments made by shnarkle and GodsGrace. It's so often what is done now by style conscious women, including those of a conservative outlook.

    Increasing depravity...a sign?

@Naomi25 I guess it's the differing emphases of reformers Savonarola and Luther again. Luther said, "Others have attacked abuses, but I have attacked doctrine and overthrown the whole system". He also said: "I did nothing. The Word did it all."

    Increasing depravity...a sign?

@Naomi25 Oh, I understand what you mean, but it's easy just to slip back into running commentaries about girl's swimwear, and regarding such censorious discourse as 'spiritual', while simultaneously being very superficial about the body of Scriptural doctrine which constitutes 'the faith once...

    John Darby

The Luke 21 passage - as Matthew 24 - seems to refer to tribulation saints, after the church has been raptured.

    The context of John 3:5

Ephesians 5.26's reference to 'the washing of water by the word' is indeed significant.

Can you be saved without a priest?

Great verse there; Isaiah 55.11 reminds us that God's word 'shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it'.

    The context of John 3:5

Baptism accompanies profession, but one is never, never saved by virtue of baptism. Acts 2.41....

I ask the Trinitarians and the Jehovah's Witnesses...

False; in Hebrews 1, we read: 'Unto the Son, he saith: Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever'.

    The context of John 3:5

@CharismaticLady My life of faith only starts when I rest completely in what He has done: "It is finished" (John 19.30).

Faith-based tattoo: as a result of one, did you ever talk with someone? (Poll included)

@CharismaticLady You can well understand that now, since there such a lot of quality tattoo artwork that's done, women as well as men feel they can be inked with confidence, right?

    The Decoy Gospel

@CharismaticLady Paul's letter to the Romans is indeed a great treatise on justification by faith in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3 speaks of imputed righteousness; we ourselves can never boast of our own sinlessness; it is rather the righteousness of God imputed to the...

    The context of John 3:5

Acts 2.41 says: "Then they that gladly believed his word were baptized". They were baptized because they gladly believed his word; they were believers already. They were not baptized in order to try to become believers. They were baptized because they were believers already. Many parts of the...

Faith-based tattoo: as a result of one, did you ever talk with someone? (Poll included)

@soul man Whereas your family, as you indicated, is now thoroughly accustomed to getting inked up from time to time, right?

    Paul's wisdom

@soul man Re. the ref. to 'wisdom' in the OP, I am reminded of wisdom personified in Proverbs 8, and then of Paul in 1 Corinthians 1.30-31: "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31That, according as it is...
