I think it's more about what SOLA FIDE, SOLA SCRIPTURA and SOLA GRATIA mean in Scripture, rather than how feeble mortals have in faith but imperfectly aspired to them.

@Nancy : We can also remember that the Lord Jesus promised His disciples that He had overcome the world, amidst their tribulations (John 16.33).

"For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." (Philippians 2.13) "Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power..." (Psalm 11.3)

@Rita, I think part of the challenge is to see in the light of John 16.33 that future tribulations are things that the Lord brings His people through rather than necessarily causes them to avoid; i.e., He is with us in the tribulation — strengthening us — rather than always preventing us from...
