Does it concern you that gospels were written so many years after Jesus died?

Why should you be given a break when you are not giving the Apostles a break?

    some questions

I'm sorry for the confusion. I was responding to this post. "Should" is an ideal. The Bible is a good source of ideals. Me and my mother grew up in a 3 generation household. I grew up in my father's father's house. She grew up in her mother's parents house. So, in my experience, even getting...

Does it concern you that gospels were written so many years after Jesus died?

No. I am not concerned and I doubt anyone else in this forum is either. You are establishing a rejection criteria but not an acceptance criteria. Writing is an act. You should read the Book of Acts. It began immediately after the death of the Anointed. Does this not tell you anything...

Does it concern you that gospels were written so many years after Jesus died?

Not a helpful post. Does not advance the discussion. You should have the maturity to advance your own opinion if you think the way of the world is other than night follows day.

What is the alternative in your opinion?

Does it concern you that gospels were written so many years after Jesus died?

Doubt ≠ Denial. Doubt means you have faith. Denial means you don't. See Augustine's Confessions.

    some questions

If you subscribe to equality, Genesis 2:24 should be informative.

What made you become a Christian? When did you turn to Jesus and commit your life to follow him?

    Grace

There are many works that are righteous. That is not the point. Repenting is not the cause of your salvation. It is a pre-requisite. Now that you have the courage and humility to face your Creator ... I fear too many think paying lip service will suffice. "I believe" or "I repent" are only...

    Grace

I think there is a lack of humility in those who think their salvation can be earned. For what it is worth, it is clear to me that internal work is required but this is not the external works as meant in the Bible. The internal work is having the humility to accept grace. To do this requires...

The Mercy of the Lord Endureth Forever - Except to the Billions He Burns in HELL for Eternity

Tell me, what brought you to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior? For me, the answer is no. I tend to be a universalist. FYI: Hell is actually a holding cell until Judgment Day. After that it is the Lake of Fire.

    The Case Against the Trinity

This is a great question and you know we get a disingenuous answer; that it was always the doctrine. As I posted in another thread, the trinity is so important, it is not mentioned one time in the Bible. The mental gymnastics to synthesize their doctrine, desperately taking verses out of...

    A Couple of Questions

You know, lately people have been saying the Bible is very clear about things that it is not clear about. Joseph was Jesus' step-dad. At least, that is the take I've always had.

A Question About The Death and Resurrection of Christ

Was John 2:21 the verse first discussed?

A Question About The Death and Resurrection of Christ

It is not a question of me seeing what is not there. Just admit the trinity is not in the Bible and we can go on from there. I know you are desperate to synthesis it’s presence by taking various verses out of context. It’s silly. The trinity is so important, it is not mentioned once in the...

A Question About The Death and Resurrection of Christ

Well, without going to yet another verse, the verse in question was not clear as the heaters thought he was referring to the temple of Solomon. The previous 500 times in the Bible, when the temple was referenced, it meant the temple of Solomon. You are in denial of figurative use of language here.
