    The t.r.u.m.p ignorantly speaks Scripture

I have wondered about that because some anti Trump people are committed Christians. Rather than liars, I would say they are deceived by their media sources.

    The hardest command to obey?

There are a lot of factors to consider which would come under the heading of wisdom .. I would not take an unknown person into my home but I support practical outreach ministry to people in need including people on the street.

    Non-biblical church rules

I think there are principles in the Bible that guide the teaching on social behavior that need to be interpreted by the Church for each new generation ... eg, using drugs, viewing pornography, listening to ungodly music, watching movies that demean Christian values, etc

    The hardest command to obey?

You raise an interesting question ... how do we justify the level of help we offer to those who are less fortunate? I am glad I'm not the man Jesus told to sell all he had and give to the poor, and follow Him. I don't think that was an example for everyone to follow regarding their possessions...

    countries banning Muslim head coverings

I would support banning the niqab and the burqa (face covering) but not the hijab (head covering). I've always thought it strange that many Christian women will not wear a bikini but will wear a swimsuit that would be immodest in any other public situation.

Collapse of the twin towers in 2001. An engineering perspective

That is a surprising list but Boeing 767s are on a different scale altogether, aren't they? I am certainly no expert, but I expect that the conclusions derived from models and calculations are dependent on what variables are considered. What I find more interesting than the physical dynamics...

    Nostalgia

Your comment echoes Philippians 3:13-14 I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Collapse of the twin towers in 2001. An engineering perspective

You may well be right, but how many 110 storey buildings have been hit by Boeing 767s ... I'm guessing only two!

Is a woman required to cover her head today?

I agree that we cannot add to the Bible ... but it does seem that God works through Scripture to bring new, or at least restore, truth ... that is what the Reformation was all about.

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

Peter did not see laying on of hands as essential to receiving the HS because of his experience in the house of Cornelius. I think I see where we part company ... you see Acts 19:6 & Ephesians 1:13 as a record of a historical event, while I see everything in Ephesians written to instruct the...

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

We agree that some received the HS with the laying on of hands and some without. I am really very puzzled why you reject these verses as showing what you asked. Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them [the Ephesians] , the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues...

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

You do not see that in Peter's words I quoted? Read Peter's full speech in Acts 15. Then there are Peter's 5 sermons in Acts, such as Acts 5:30-32 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give...

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

Every blessing bestowed on Christians is through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no doubt about that. What I see is that receiving the HS is not necessarily at the moment of believing as Paul demonstrates in Ephesians. Peter was the one who ministered to the house of Cornelius where the HS...

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

The word "after" in reference to the Ephesians indicates receiving the HS (at least in some people) is a different experience to accepting Jesus' atonement for sin. So you think Peter did not believe that before Paul told him? The disciples did not fully understand until Jesus' rose from...

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

Are we supposed to ignore what Paul said in Ephesians about receiving the HS? Yes, I agree with that. I still do not understand why you are reluctant to say exactly what Paul explained to the 12.

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

You mean apart from what happened when Paul was ministering to the Ephesians ... recorded in Acts 19 and recalled in Ephesians 1:13? What you call "lay & pray" was not what happened when Peter was ministering in the house of Cornelius. My question in #15 was "So exactly what was it you say...

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

Sorry but I do not know what you mean by "after" ... are you talking about historical sequence? My polite request came first :clmSmlx

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

In the case of Cornelius and his household, when they believed they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 10) In the case of the Ephesians, they believed, then they were baptized, and then they received the Holy Spirit (Acts 19) So exactly what was it you say Paul explained to the 12?

How do we know the Jesus we hope for is how He is?

I would be interested to read what you see as the things Paul explained to the 12.

Do you write in your Bible?

Even at church services I see people using Blue Letter Bible on their phones ... I guess I'm just an old fuddy-duddy but it doesn't feel like a real Bible to me :clmSmlx
