How did the Trinity doctrine develop in the early church?

You're giving me too much credit - there are no original thoughts from me there. That answer was the product of studying. The clear answer is that would mean that Christians have the fulness of God in them. I believe that statement to be true. But... maybe not true in the sense you intended...

How did the Trinity doctrine develop in the early church?

"Fulness" does directly suggest that. There were those in the early church who taught that Jesus was the embodiment of just one aspect of God (usually xristos - anointing). The heretic Simon Magus claimed to be such an incarnation of an aspect of God (exousia - power). Colossians' claim that...

Why are Bible scholars leaving Christianity?

A question - how many of these scholars are Protestant? Catholic? Orthodox? I suspect... they're Protestant, and their faith, being built on the Bible, was shaken when they started to discover some problems with the Bible.

Zelensky Accepts Defeat to Putin? Says Ukrainian Army Powerless To Push Back Russian Forces

Hopefully not... TV news is just one big propaganda machine now.

Why you don't have to speak in tongues - Or do you?

It's both/all. The giving of a message in a language (Fijian) unknown to the one speaking, but known to members of the audience was #3 on the list in the opening post. The gift of permanently being able to speak a language (Navajo) was #5.

Why you don't have to speak in tongues - Or do you?

It certainly can be! I have heard messages given in German and Fijian that were subsequently translated for the rest of the English-speaking audience. I know a man who was given a gift of a tongue... and that tongue is Navajo.

Zelensky Accepts Defeat to Putin? Says Ukrainian Army Powerless To Push Back Russian Forces

Sinking the billion$ was the whole point... And that money mostly didn't stay in Ukraine, it went directly back to US defense contractors. The three-letter-agencies got to wage a proxy war and the military got to live-test a bunch of their war machines. So glad this didn't turn into WW3...

Why you don't have to speak in tongues - Or do you?

I don't think this bit is well-agreed on. There's a whole segment of the church that doesn't believe tongues even happen anymore. Even among those who do believe in tongues, many would have issues with this list. Me, yeah I'm the problem... I would have issues with this list. 1Cor 14 is...

    Apokatastasis in the early church

I don't think he was. I would be happy to be proven wrong, but... I don't see a place where he prophesies or is called a prophet. The New Testament authors barely quote Job...

    Apokatastasis in the early church

Weird, yes. The salvation mentioned in Ephesians 2 is about the people there being regenerated - coming to a belief in Jesus. This is the beginning of their Christian walk; not the end. There's nothing in the chapter about a future resurrection OR damnation. That's not in view.

    Apokatastasis in the early church

Yes indeed. I think if you read the beginning of this thread, you'll find that I pointed out this same verse. The problem (is it really a problem?) is that David himself never says "I am a prophet" or "this is a prophecy." Yet Jesus, Peter and the apostles treat his Psalms as the work of a...

Wow... I just assumed it stood for "YouTube"

What Is The Difference Between Liberal, Conservative and Fundamentalist Christians?

The creeds are stated in the positive. It's what isn't said that defines accepted heterodoxy.

Should sin triumph over grace in the end?

It sounds similar to the Orthodox concept - purgation rather than purgatory. The people are cleansed by fire, but it isn't a place, it is just the consequence of the presence of God.

Should sin triumph over grace in the end?

Are you referring to purgatory here? The idea that the wicked dead are "refined" by fire and come out the other side purified?

What Is The Difference Between Liberal, Conservative and Fundamentalist Christians?

Hebrews 5 distinguishes between the mature and immature, as those who eat meat vs those who drink milk: For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of...

What Is The Difference Between Liberal, Conservative and Fundamentalist Christians?

It's not missing exactly; we still have the writings of all those early church guys. We just don't read them.

What Is The Difference Between Liberal, Conservative and Fundamentalist Christians?

The creeds were originally intended to be something akin to a church's charter. They told everyone what that particular church believed and required from its members. This seems to be well-understood. They also told everyone what a church DIDN'T find to be essentials of doctrine - areas where...
