What is meant by "rightly dividing the word of truth?"

King James Version ?? (it's only a 'version', based as follows) Henry VIII broke with Rome and formed the new Church of England in order to divorce Catherine of Aragon and marry the then pregnant Anne Boleyn. Archbishop Cranmer was consequently instructed to set up a constitution for the new...

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

God grant that we may post whatever the Lord places within our hearts; the word of Christ dwelling in us richly in all wisdom; whilst we teach (and even lovingly admonish) one another, with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing always with grace in our hearts to the Lord.

No Probs. IMO there is as much likelihood of your views being misplaced to the same degree that they have occasionally constituted constructively produced misrepresentations. It's the method commonly used by those intent more on 'winning' by finding the most effective 'hits' than on looking to...

    Christ is 'All in All'

He is the “Light of the World” He is “The Word” (Logos). The Word was God. He was in the Beginning. “All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being” (NASB). He is “The everlasting Father”. He is also the Holy Spirit (John 16:7)...we...

Sin and Atonement; each in two stages?

Thanks for that ....but. for the moment, I am wearied of bantering theology. "Convert a person against his will. and he remains unconverted still" So the bantering serves no good purpose. Yes, it's a discussion forum, but every member wants to 'convert' to his own understanding, which leaves no...

Starting with "A", a persons first Name, where they are from and what they do . I'll Start :)

We've skipped 'M' is for Michael which Means 'Who is like unto Him'. (if ever there was such a Mistaken Meaning)

    The Provocation.

I find myself in Hebrews Chapter 3 (Hebrews is a great favourite of mine) Here's a Paraphrase: "Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. But this man was counted worthy of more...

    Inspiration

I began reading this thread and found myself planting 'likes' on virtually every post, then I realised that I had another four pages still to read. Can you all please take it as read that I like the thread and all of its posts?:)

    The Provocation.

I am intrigued by this article, found on the internet and published in another forum. I have to admit to not having given much thought to the relevance of 'The Provocation' to my own walk of faith. "Camped in the hot, waterless wilderness of southern Palestine, the Israelites challenged Moses...

Sin and Atonement; each in two stages?

But what about Hebrews 10:26 ? "if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more (other) sacrifice for sins". I incline towards the view that sins that we "keep on committing" are classified as "works of wood, hay and stubble" and are burned...

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

I accept and am fully aware that I 'cherry pick' in order to arrive at and present my 'inclinations'. Most of us do ..... just that we don't all admit to it.

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

I realise that you are deeply incensed by how you read and quote 'parts' of what I have written. In reality I have said that I don't believe in the 'Robotic pen' degree of inspiration, whereby men were enabled to write inerrantly about things that were beyond their academic and cosmic knowledge...

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

But there are those who believe that eternal torment in the Lake of Fire is reserved solely for "The devil, the Beast, and the False Prophet", and that others not written in the Lambs Book of Life are sent there in order to "Perish in a second death" as distinct from "being tormented day and...

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

By God's grace I pray that I will always allow that I am never 'Wholly right', and that others (such as yourself) will never be 'Wholly wrong'.

Sin and Atonement; each in two stages?

All as per the priesthood of Christ which runs right through Hebrews

Sin and Atonement; each in two stages?

I may have to come back to this after deeper consideration, but my immediate response would be to say that atonement is the sacrifice that is efficacious in cancelling out 'sin'.

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

No so. I simply stayed within Dr Robert Youngs' Literal Translation which always uses the words Gehenna, Tartarus, and Hades in the twenty three other places where lazy translations use the word Hell in the New Testament.

The vast range of Greys between Black and White

So much for "This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth". Do I sense a touch of hyper Calvinism?
